As Vice President, Onchain Products you’ll play a key role in unlocking the value of onchain networks for our payment products and membership assets. Reporting to the VP Product, Membership Experiences, your role is to scale and grow existing products while developing and expanding new ones through leading a high-performing team.

As a leader in this role, your responsibilities will range from growing a consumer-facing product like Amex Passport to developing new services for a world of agentic onchain payments. You’re a skilled product leader and builder who looks to solve customer pain points through great applications of emerging technology. Curiosity, humility, and the ability to execute and solution in a complex, scaled business is a must.

Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Vision

  • Support the enterprise as a thought leader on the constantly evolving onchain ecosystem, bringing deep insights on market trends & competitive threats, as well as opportunities areas for Amex.

  • Define how to win in the growing stablecoin ecosystem, setting the roadmap for existing and 0→1 products while prioritizing investment in the right onchain capabilities stack required to build at scale.

  • Identify high-impact opportunities for future agentic onchain payment flows and align priorities with business goals, customer needs, and enterprise strategy.

Product Development & Delivery

  • Oversee development of onchain products, from definition to ongoing management.

  • Work with business units such as Amex Travel and Global Merchant & Network Services to support and influence product roadmaps.

  • Ensure high-quality product delivery across front-end experiences, and backend platforms.

  • Drive product performance through clear metrics, experimentation, and continuous iteration.

  • Partner with external partners and internal BD and GTM teams to effectively get to market.

Platform & Capability Scaling

  • Lead the development of platform capabilities necessary for scaled product development across multiple use cases for the enterprise.

  • Drive build, buy, partner decisions across developments for the platform.

  • Drive adoption of reusable frameworks, tools, and best practices across teams.

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Influence

  • Lead and mentor a team of product directors and managers.

  • Partner with a range of teams from engineering and design to risk, compliance and infosec to deliver winning solutions.

  • Influence senior stakeholders and drive alignment outside Amex Labs.

  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of digital product management experience, leading high-performing teams

  • Proven track record of ownership, delivering complex 0→1 and scaled products

  • Deep customer focus with experience building intuitive, high-quality digital experiences

  • Experience building and scaling onchain products in production environments

  • Strong understanding of an onchain stack (e.g. protocols, wallets, tooling, smart contracts, token standards)

  • Strong risk and governance mindset; experience operating in regulated environments

  • Ability to influence senior leaders, drive alignment, and make data-informed decisions

  • Passion for innovation, experimentation, and continuous learning in emerging tech

  • A self-starter with an ability to excel in a dynamic, constantly evolving environment

  • A collaborative leader at heart – able to support the development of talent and work effectively inside a matrixed organization

  • Bachelor’s degree, or advanced degree preferred in Computer Science, Engineering, or Business
