Job Summary

The Department of Linguistics in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY invites applications for a temporary Visiting Assistant Professor in Linguistics, with a specialization in psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics, syntax, and animal communication. This is a full-time, non-tenure-eligible faculty position in the temporary title series with an appointment not to exceed one year for the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 academic terms with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2026.

The teaching assignment for this visiting position is three courses per semester (3–3). Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate courses such as Language and the Brain and Animal Communication, as well as additional undergraduate offerings aligned with the department’s curricular needs and the candidate’s expertise in linguistics and cognitive science. Courses may include topics in psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics, language processing, or the biological foundations of language. The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise in neuroscience with an emphasis on the cognitive and neural bases of language, including human and non-human communication systems. This position will contribute to undergraduate instruction and is expected to participate in departmental activities consistent with a visiting appointment.
