Job Summary
The Department of Biology in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Kentucky invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in Neuroscience. This is a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure-eligible faculty position in the temporary title series with a one-year appointment for the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 academic terms with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2026. The anticipated distribution of effort will be 30% Teaching, 65% Research, and 5% Departmental Service. The successful candidate will contribute to the undergraduate Neuroscience major through teaching courses such as Developmental Neuroscience and other foundational courses in the neuroscience curriculum.
In addition to teaching responsibilities, the successful candidate will be expected to develop an independent research program in neuroscience or related biological sciences. The research program should broadly engage questions in developmental, cellular, or molecular neuroscience, including mechanisms underlying neural development, differentiation, function, or disease. The candidate’s scholarship should complement existing departmental strengths.
The faculty member will participate fully in departmental life, including attendance at faculty meetings, colloquia, and other service activities consistent with rank and position.
A Ph.D. in Biology, Neuroscience, or a closely related field is required.
