Here, your voice and ideas matter, your work makes an impact, and together, you will help us define the future of American Express.The Enterprise Data Office (EDO) is part of the American Express Technology (AET) organization and sets the enterprise strategy for and delivery of critical data-related initiatives required to accelerate the ongoing digital transformation of American Express products and services, enhance the overall customer experience, strengthen our data strategy and practices, and drive our continued growth.American Express continues to invest in enterprise data management, and as part of the journey, we are seeking a Vice President to drive the design and implementation of Data Issue Reporting & Resolution Management. Key responsibilities include:
- Set the strategic vision for a comprehensive data issue and incident management framework, aligned to the Enterprise Data Management (“EDM”) Operating Policy and enterprise requirements.
- Scale and manage the core team required to support and drive data risk identification, management, and reporting across the enterprise.
- Maintain a comprehensive taxonomy of data issues and incidents, mapped to data risk categories and data lifecycle phases, across the enterprise.
- Ensure that data issues and incidents are identified and prioritized, documented in an appropriate location, evaluated to determine root cause and accountability, sufficiently resolved through corrective actions, and monitored to closure within defined SLAs.
- Define EDM reporting metrics, KPIs, KRIs, and thresholds for various dimensions of data risk, issues, and incidents.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with the data offices across American Express business units, control management, and across the second- and third-line teams to report on and resolve data-related issues, incidents, or events.
- Establish a sustainable approach to enhance existing data issue and incident reporting at the EDM program level and within FDOs through defined standards and SLAs.
- Review and challenge corrective action plans and validation of remediation for high-risk and critical data-related issues.
- Define reporting and metrics for data-related issues and incidents, including automation requirements where applicable.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in data governance, data risk management, or a related field within the financial services industry.
- Strong knowledge of data governance, data compliance, and data quality management in a large US and/or global bank preferred.
- Experience in building / supporting enterprise issue or incident management programs.
- Expertise in establishing data metrics and using technology to enable on-demand reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate the use of data aggregation and reporting platforms, preferably within the data risk and / or issue management context.
- Familiarity with leading data aggregation tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Looker, etc.), enabling effective oversight of teams responsible for data extraction, transformation and reporting workflows.
- Proven experience building and leading diverse, geographically dispersed, high-performing teams; extensive experience and success as a leader of leaders.
- Proven ability to lead, influence and motivate stakeholders within and outside of your direct authority to achieve aggressive goals.
- Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to articulate complex concepts in a manner consumable by a broad stakeholder base, including a senior executive audience.
- The ability to bring structure to ambiguity and thrive in an unstructured, fast paced dynamic environment.
- Location: US Hybrid; New York or Phoenix preferred; other major US Amex markets considered

Salary Range: $185,000.00 to $260,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
