GREWE supports over 75,000 Amex colleagues and contractors in over eight million square feet of property located in 59 countries. Our real estate portfolio consists of large full-service campuses, office buildings, sales offices, airport lounges and data centers. The VP, GREWE Operations Excellence & Risk Management is a key leadership position in the organization, leading a team responsible for creating and deploying global facility risk management programs, controls and compliance, and workplace safety in support of American Express’ global facility footprint. These programs will identify, assess, and mitigate risks within our facilities to protect assets, colleagues and operations. This leader will bring expertise in operations management, safety, compliance, and facility risk management.
Tasks/Duties/Responsibilities
Risk Assessment and Management
- Risk Identification: Identifying potential risks across various areas of the organization.
- Risk Assessment: Evaluating the likelihood and potential impact of identified risks.
- Risk Mitigation: Developing and implementing strategies to reduce or eliminate identified risks.
- Policy and Procedure Development: Creating and maintaining risk management policies and procedures.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Continuously monitoring risks and reporting on their status and effectiveness of mitigation efforts.
Supplier Governance and Performance Management
- Leads the Development of annual GREWE Goals & Objectives (G&Os), performance dashboard and metrics, and their communication/cascade throughout the organization
- Creates and deploy programs to monitor, analyze, and improve supplier performance to ensure quality, cost, and delivery targets are met, while also managing supplier relationships and implementing governance processes.
- Leads global supplier relationship management.
- Management and measurement of G&O execution
- Development and maintenance and cascading global GREWE performance measures, scorecards, metrics and dashboards for all region and functions
- Translating the performance measures into business value terms for all businesses across AXP
Controls and Compliance
- Lead the GREWE controls and compliance team responsible for oversight, tracking and reporting of operational risk events (OREs), TLM processes and other control management issues
- Responsible for working across GREWE to proactively mitigate control risk and swiftly close out open compliance events.
- Represents GREWE on compliance teams, in audits, and partners with second and third line functions.
Workplace Safety
- Lead the development, implementation, and control of comprehensive safety programs that comply with relevant regulations (e.g., OSHA).
- Partner with Security, Wellness, CEG (Colleague Experience Group) and other AXP functions to deliver the most impactful safety programs.
- Develop and implement safety policies and procedures.
- Establish and maintain emergency response plans related to colleague safety.
General GREWE Leadership Support
- Scrubbing P&L performance and simplification of the GREWE annual budget to ensure spend on the highest and best value for AXP
- Leading a business process governance capability for standardization of core enabling processes across GREWE
- Managing the Organization effectiveness capability, including sponsorships, scholarships, apprenticeships program, and coordination with external groups.
Other Duties
- Position will serve on the GREWE global LT
- Members of this organization serve as key contacts to the leaders across the AXP control and compliance ecosystem
- Rotating member of other councils as appropriate
- Must establish sound working relationships with the VP, GREWE and the leadership team
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 15 years of Operations, Engineering, Business, or project management experience is required
- Mastery of large program leadership, governance, and orchestration is essential
- Minimum of 5 years managing global teams
- Deep knowledge of real estate, facilities, and engineering capabilities – specialized in risk management and operations
- Outstanding collaboration, connect, influence, and shaping skills
- University/Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent experience
Salary Range: $185,000.00 to $260,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
