Position Name: X-ray Positioning Adjunct Instructor
Classification: Part-Time, Non-Benefitted
FTE: Less than 50% time
Work Hours: Variable
Work Location: On campus in Portland, OR
Department/Division: Clinical Science/College of Chiropractic
Supervisor: Associate Dean, College of Chiropractic
2. POSITION SUMMARY
This course covers radiographic (plain film) positioning instruction for spine, extremities and pelvis focusing on proper anatomical positioning when imaging the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spinal regions and upper and lower extremities and pelvis. This course also reviews principles of physics used in radiography. Competency or mastery is expected in the following: radiographic positioning technique and patient protection from ionizing radiation while performing mock radiographic exams.
3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
50% - Prepares lessons and teaches procedures based on existing syllabus.
25% - Demonstrates and monitors student practice of proper anatomical positioning when performing mock radiographic exams.
5% - Maintains a safe environment in the classroom.
5% - Instructs students in techniques to improve skills and address more difficult scenarios.
5% - Compiles, administers, and grades examinations.
5% - Creates syllabi and course outline.
2.5% - Contributes to evaluations of students’ non-cognitive behavior.
2.5% - Maintains expertise in area of instruction.

5. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Certifications & Licenses Required:
- Radiologic Technologist or chiropractor with experience in performing plain film imaging.
Experience Required:
- Teaching experience
Related Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:
- Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
- Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
- Ability to access current electronic information.
