Teaching
• Teach Computer Information Technology courses; day, night, hybrid and Web offerings as assigned.
• Work with course leads and/or program directors and/or department chairs to ensure consistent and equitable student experiences.
• Utilize the college's learning management system to provide course materials to students.
• Utilize the college's learning management system for providing timely feedback and continuously keeping students aware of their progress in the course.
• Utilize the college's learning management system to establish and communicate clearly defined grading procedures and standards
• Post updated department syllabi in the college's learning management system prior to the first day of class.
• Regularly check email (JSCC and eLearn) and departmental mailbox.
• Respond to emails/messages within 24 hours except on the weekend.
• Use evaluations, professional development and theories and principles of learning to revise and update content, objectives and instructional strategies.
• Use alternative instructional strategies where appropriate.
• Engage in departmental institutional effectiveness activities
• Perform record-keeping responsibilities related to teaching and advising.
• Respond in a timely fashion to all reasonable deadlines.
• Comply with all college and TBR policies and guidelines.
Advising
• Be available to students by maintaining office hours, which are reasonably convenient and posted at the beginning of each term.
• Be knowledgeable of college policies, procedures and assistance available to students.
• Assist advisees with following their desired Computer Information Technology program of study.
• Hold conferences with students as needed.
• Participate in advising and outreach events at the college.
Faculty Service
• Serve on committees and task forces as approved by supervisors.
• Use professional knowledge and skills to contribute to local and professional community activities whenever appropriate.
• Attend faculty and advisory committee meetings as scheduled.
• Contribute to the advancement of institutional goals through appropriate individual goals.
• Attend graduation.

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in a related field of study
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's Degree in a related field of study, with at least 18 graduate hours in Computer Information Technology or Computer Science. • College level teaching experience. • Three years working in the Computer Information Technology field • CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+ and Cisco CCNA certifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Knowledge and/or experience using a variety of instructional delivery modes. • Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population. • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in LMS management as well as Microsoft Office applications.

Title: Instructor, English – 9/10 Month (Term)
POSITION SUMMARY This position is a full-time faculty position responsible for preparing and delivering quality instruction in English. This position will support instruction in Nashville high schools and other Nashville State instructional sites as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Teach courses via on-ground in local high schools and/or online, hybrid or in web-enhanced delivery modes, as assigned. Teaching assignments are possible at any campus or site at which Nashville State instruction takes place. Within a minimum workweek of 37.5 hours, teach a minimum of 15 hours and hold office hours. Work with Course Leads, Department Chair, and Dean to ensure consistent student experiences. Utilizing the College’s learning management system, provide accurate and updated course materials to students. Submit updated and accurate syllabi prior to the first day of class. Regularly check College email and departmental mailbox. Respond to emails/messages within 24 hours, except on weekends. Complete all required reports, such as attendance, Early Alerts, progress reports and grade submissions. Administer and return questionnaires and student outcome assessments by the required deadlines. Submit final grades for each semester by the deadline established by the registrar. Provide academic advising to students with an emphasis on retention and success. Remain current in the teaching area(s) through appropriate professional development activities. Actively participate on committees within the Department of English and Reading, the School of Arts and Humanities and college-wide committees and engage in departmental institutional effectiveness activities. Collaborate in building and maintaining relationships within and beyond the institution. Comply with all college and TBR policies and guidelines.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Master’s degree in English, English Composition, Writing or Literature; or
Master’s degree in another discipline and at least 18 graduate semester hours in English, English Composition, Writing or Literature; or
MFA in Creative Writing
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Documented experience teaching at the college level.
Documented experience teaching at the high school level.
Demonstrated understanding of the community college mission and needs of the student population.

      Instructor, English - 9/10 Month (Term)
    

This is a full-time, academic year, tenure-track position in English &amp; Orientation. The position
reports to the Dean of Arts, Sciences, &amp; Technologies. This position is primarily stationed in
Henry/Weakley Counties and pending final budget approval.&nbsp;This is an in-person teaching position. This is not a remote position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Teach 30 hours (TLE) per academic year in English and Orientation (willingness to teach
overloads as needed) in a combination of learning support, co-requisite, and/or college-level
courses.
• Ability to teach and manage multiple courses in an individualized setting.
• Teach a range of ages from Dual Enrollment high school students to nontraditional, returning
adults.
• Recruit students from area high schools and from the community to make DSCC’s program
viable and competitive.
• Flexibility to teach evenings/weekends and/or off-campus courses as needed (requires the use of
personal vehicle).
• Practice a learning-centered educational philosophy and redesign courses to include researchbased learning strategies including service-learning opportunities, learning communities,
critical thinking skills, co-operative learning, and reading across the curriculum.
• Develop web-enhanced courses for delivery in technology-enhanced classrooms/labs (such as
interactive (Zoom) rooms), online, or in a hybrid mode, and using accessibility standards.
• Become certified in and fully use the course management system for all classes.
• Provide course materials and information in a format that is accessible for all students.
• Work with colleagues to assess the effectiveness of courses, analyze the results, develop and
implement improvement plans, and document this information each semester in the form
prescribed by DSCC.
• Participate in professional development and maintain membership in an appropriate regional,
state and/or national organization related to your teaching at DSCC.
• Assist with the identification and mentoring of adjunct instructors.
• Revise and develop curriculum and select textbooks and e-textbooks in cooperation with
colleagues and in line with accessibility standards.
• Assist in the preparation of class schedules.
• Advise students, maintain regular office hours, and participate in college life and committee
work of the College.
• Willingness to acquire software certifications as needed.
• Assist in grant writing and/or grant management.
• Actively communicate with colleagues and students using email, voice mail, text and other
electronic means. Normally, responses are expected in no more than 72 hours.
• Be trained and certified as a Master Advisor.
• Willingness to teach in a correctional facility.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Sedentary: Desk work; travel will be required for college or program activities. Insignificant effort other
than normal movement. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Minimal Hazard/Exposure: Standard office settings. At
least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.

• Doctorate from a regionally accredited institution.
• Experience teaching in an online environment preferred.
• Experience with Zoom and Microsoft Teams preferred.
• Preference will be given to candidates with 18 graduate hours in an additional subject area that
supports the general education core.
