This is a full-time, academic year position reporting to the Dean of Health Sciences and assumes EMS programmatic instructional activities for the needs and demands of the DSCC EMS programs. &nbsp;This position has a focus for the Dyersburg State Community College Henry County Center; however, official workstation may change from campus and center dependent upon needs and demands of the EMS programs. Duties include working with the Director of EMS and EMS Clinical Coordinator for coordination of student classroom and clinical field experiences. This position is pending grant approval.
Duties and Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>To devote an equivalent of 37.5 hours of work per week</li>
<li>Responsible for 30 credit hours of Teaching Load Equivalency (TLE) per academic year.</li>
<li>Create a positive environment for learning.</li>
<li>Develop, evaluate and revise relevant curriculum in cooperation with colleagues; assist in the selection materials for teaching classroom, lab and clinical activities.</li>
<li>Assist in preparation of schedules and in selection of electronic course materials.</li>
<li>Attend division, faculty, committee, and other institutional meetings to meet the needs of students and program management as well the welfare and support of the college.</li>
<li>Provide delivery of didactic material, demonstration of psychomotor skills and verification of assessment skill proficiency in the EMS Program.</li>
<li>Collaborate with EMS teaching teams and assist with setting up practice labs.</li>
<li>Assist with the recruitment, registration, advisement, retention and job placement of EMS students.</li>
<li>Maintain lab equipment and supplies necessary for demonstration.</li>
<li>Submit requests to Director of EMS for needed lecture and lab equipment and supplies.</li>
<li>Maintain inventory of equipment, videos, software and supplies; provide an inventory to the Director of EMS at the beginning of each academic year and as needed thereafter.</li>
<li>Teach a range of ages from Dual Enrollment high school students to nontraditional, returning adults.</li>
<li>Recruit students from area high schools and from the community to make DSCC’s program viable and competitive.&nbsp; Propose changes to schedules to reflect student and community needs.</li>
<li>Flexible to teach evenings/weekends and/or off-campus courses as needed (requires the use of personal vehicle).</li>
<li>Practice a learning-centered educational philosophy and redesign courses to include research-based learning strategies including service learning opportunities, learning communities, critical thinking skills, co-operative learning, and reading across the curriculum.</li>
<li>Develop web-enhanced courses for delivery in technology-enhanced classrooms/labs (such as Zoom rooms), online or in a hybrid mode. EMS courses are not online; however, certain terminology and topics can be covered in online lecture videos that students can view prior to coming to class/lab.</li>
<li>Become certified in and fully use the course management system for all classes (e.g.eLearn).</li>
<li>Work with colleagues to assess the effectiveness of courses, analyze the results, develop and implement improvement plans, and document this information each semester in the form prescribed by DSCC.</li>
<li>Participate in professional development which includes a required review of effective teaching practices and maintain membership in an appropriate regional, state and/or national organization related to teaching at DSCC.</li>
<li>Participate in DSCC commencement activities.</li>
<li>Assist with the identification, interviewing, selecting and mentoring of adjunct instructors.</li>
<li>Willingness to acquire software certifications as needed.</li>
<li>Actively communicate with colleagues and students using email, voice mail, text and other electronic means. Normally, responses are expected in no more than 48-72 hours.</li>
<li>Be trained and certified as a Master Advisor.</li>
<li>Assist with grant writing.</li>
<li>Participate in Advisory Committee meetings and student activities.</li>
<li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li>

Students are prepared to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain residential and commercial refrigeration, air conditioning, heat pumps, humidifiers, and electrical and gas heating. Job Duties:
Within a minimum workweek of 37.5 hours, faculty are generally expected to teach 15 semester credit hours and hold additional in-person and virtual office hours as defined in College policy. Faculty will teach a total 28-32 semester credit hours across Fall and Spring semesters. Teach evening, weekend, off-campus, dual enrollment, and distance-based courses as required. Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution. Minimum of two years practicing in the pre-hospital environment. Minimum of two years educational administration or greater the 300 hours instructional experience in EMS training or programs. Must meet requirements established by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon recommendation from Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the EMS Professions (CoAEMSP), and the Tennessee Department of Health Division of EMS. Must be licensed or eligible for Paramedic licensure in Tennessee; Paramedic licensure must be free from revocation, denial, or suspension.

Position Requirements:

GENERAL DUTIES:&nbsp; The part-time Practical Nursing Adjunct Instructor is responsible for teaching and supervision of nursing students in on-campus classroom/lab settings and at off-campus clinical sites; evaluating and advising students; maintaining records and completing reports; participating in the development of the program, and other duties as assigned. This position reports to the Director of Health Careers. This part-time position will average 18-28 hours (3-4 days) per week Monday through Friday and is not eligible for benefits. Scheduled hours will be for in-person classroom and skills lab teaching and student supervision at clinical sites. Clinical hours may vary based on the needs of each site. This is not a remote teaching position.
SALARY:&nbsp; $32.00 per hour. Commensurate with Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology -- Dickson guidelines.

Title: Instructor, Surgical Technology – 9/10 Month (Term)
POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for delivering quality instruction in Surgical Technology. This position will support instruction in Nashville high schools and on the Nashville State White Bridge campus.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Teach courses via on-ground, online, hybrid or web-enhanced delivery modes as assigned. Within a minimum workweek of 37.5 hours, teach a minimum of 15 hours and hold office hours. Work with course leads and/or program coordinators/directors to ensure consistent student experiences. Utilize the college’s learning management system to provide accurate and updated course materials to students. Submit updated department syllabi prior to the first day of class. Submit final grades for each semester by the deadline established by the registrar. Provide academic advising to students with an emphasis on retention and success.
Remain current in the teaching area(s) through appropriate professional development activities. Regularly check College email and departmental mailbox. Respond to emails/messages within 24 hours except on the weekend. Complete all required reports such as student engagement, Early Alerts, progress reports, grade submissions; administer and return surveys and student outcome assessments by the required deadlines. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Associate’s degree.
Current Surgical Technology certification
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS At least two years' experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist.
Bachelor’s degree in a Health-related field.
Central Sterile Processing certification.
Prior work experience at a community college.
Prior academic teaching experience in a health care field.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge and/or experience using a variety of instructional delivery modes. Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a wide range of faculty, staff, and student population. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of confidentiality statutes and policies as they apply to FERPA and HIPPA.
