Job Description The Institutional Data Initiative (IDI) is a new research center working to advance society’s relationship with knowledge by expanding access to, and deepening our understanding of, the data that underpins AI. By collaborating with library, government, and academic institutions to publish their knowledge collections as AI training sets, IDI seeks to 1) empower those institutions and the cultures they represent, 2) build a foundational pipeline for academic inquiry of AI, and 3) advance the state of the art for all builders of AI systems.&nbsp;IDI’s work spans the AI data ecosystem—from digitization, data structuring, and metadata synthesis, to safety and security analysis, all the way through to benchmarking and the development of ethical and governance frameworks. Institutional collaboration forms the gateway to this work and IDI places a particular emphasis on opportunities with institutions that expand the cultural breadth of knowledge represented in the building blocks of AI.&nbsp;At its core, IDI is a data practice around which other interdisciplinary work is convened. Their understanding of machine learning and AI fundamentals will help identify areas of high impact and utilize models to facilitate this work. Each Principal Engineer must bring a unique set of skills and approaches to a team of engineers whose distinct capabilities complement the whole. This role will also support Voice solutions, including Digital Trunking, Hosted Voice, Unified Communications (UC), and SD-WAN. The Sales Engineer will provide consultative pre-sales technical support, working on account teams to develop proposals and recommend solutions to meet customer business requirements.The Sales Engineer position is a hybrid position, able to report to the Arlington, MA office as needed.Essential Job Functions:Responsible for working with an Account Team (Account Executives, Sales Directors, etc.) to engage with customers and provide cost-effective solutions. The Sales Engineer will provide technical sales support for Astound’s Enterprise product suite of services. Act as a technical expert in the presales process and provide experienced support to the customer’s technical team to bridge the need of Astound’s products and services. Works as part of the presales account team to market and sell Astound’s line of services including BCI, DIA, Voice, SD-WAN, Ethernet, and other Enterprise services.Duties and Responsibilities:<ul><li>Attend customer meetings in person and via the phone/web.</li><li>Assists representatives and customers with selecting the best Astound products and services to meet their needs</li><li>Prepare technical proposals and presentations in conjunction with Sales Executives, which may include preparation of network topologies, network drawings, technical specifications, and assisting with the development of pricing requests.</li><li>Builds relationships with customers serving as the technical liaison from pre-sales to post-sales.</li><li>Required to follow the Company’s and industry technology trends through self-study, formal training, and certifications</li><li>Provides technical training and development to support the Enterprise Account teams.</li><li>Regular, consistent and punctual attendance.
