McLane is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and integration solutions that support enterprise analytics, reporting, operational systems, and cloud data platforms.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience developing data pipelines, APIs, and microservices while ensuring data quality, integrity, reliability, and performance across large-scale environments. This role requires expertise in Python, SQL, and modern data engineering practices, along with experience working with relational and cloud-based database technologies.
The Senior Data Engineer will collaborate with business stakeholders, data architects, software engineers, analysts, and platform teams to deliver robust and scalable data solutions that support critical business initiatives.
This is a hybrid position which will require the candidate to report and work from the office at least three days a week. Therefore, interested candidates should be within a 50-minute radius from Temple, TX.

What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade data pipelines supporting operational and analytical workloads.
- Build scalable microservices and APIs for data integration, ingestion, transformation, and distribution.
- Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes to move and transform data across enterprise systems.
- Ensure data quality, accuracy, integrity, and consistency throughout the data lifecycle.
- Create scalable solutions for batch and near real-time data processing.
- Design and implement data validation, monitoring, reconciliation, and auditing processes.
- Collaborate with application teams, business stakeholders, and architects to define data requirements and integration strategies.
- Optimize database performance and troubleshoot data-related issues.
- Develop reusable frameworks and automation solutions to improve data engineering efficiency.
- Participate in architecture reviews and recommend best practices for data management and governance.
- Support cloud-based data platforms and modernization initiatives.
- Contribute to CI/CD automation and DevOps practices for data engineering solutions.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, data lineage, and operational procedures.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Data Integration, or a related technical discipline.
- Strong proficiency in Python for data engineering and automation.
- Advanced SQL development and query optimization experience.
- Experience designing, developing, and supporting enterprise data pipelines.
- Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Strong understanding of data quality, data integrity, and data governance principles.
- Experience with data integration, transformation, and orchestration frameworks.
- Experience working with one or more of the following database platforms:
- Oracle
- DB2 z/OS
- DB2 iSeries (AS/400)
- DB2 LUW
- PostgreSQL
- Google BigQuery
- Experience with source control and CI/CD practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely. This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications essential to the role. The requirement is directly related to the nature of the job and ensures compliance with workplace safety and operational standards.
