Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Additional related duties may be assigned.&nbsp; <ul><li>Teach lecture, recitation, and lab components of various level Physics courses as well as courses in additional discipline.</li><li>Prepare and setup equipment and/or labs weekly.</li><li>Instruct students in the proper use of lab equipment where appropriate.</li><li>See that equipment and/or labs are properly maintained where appropriate.</li><li>Participate in course, program, and institutional assessment with the analysis and reporting of data.</li><li>Meet classes at assigned times.</li><li>Plan course content and assign appropriate course work.</li><li>Maintain student records.</li><li>Evaluate student progress and assign grades.</li><li>Assist in revising course outlines, objectives, and catalog information as needed.</li><li>Collaboratively select and adopt appropriate texts and teaching materials.</li><li>Maintain office hours convenient for students.</li><li>Prepare course/class reports as required.</li><li>Attend and participate in conferences related to the teaching area; membership in appropriate professional organizations is recommended.</li><li>Submit budget requests and written narrative when appropriate.</li><li>Keep informed on the latest research and journal articles.</li><li>Attend required meetings (faculty, division, faculty development days, etc.).</li><li>Assist in short-term and long-term course planning.</li><li>Participate in division, college, community, and advisory committee activities.</li><li>Maintain supply and equipment inventory where appropriate.</li><li>Make minor repairs on machines or other lab equipment when practical and appropriate.</li><li>Recruit students when appropriate.</li><li>Adhere to Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and any and policies or laws that govern higher education at Rock Valley College.</li><li>Assist in placement of graduates when appropriate.</li><li>Regular attendance is expected.</li></ul> Qualifications&nbsp; To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
