Maintenance Mechanic

Full Time

Purpose:

Performs diversified maintenance mechanical duties, requiring a variety of mechanical skills. Executes maintenance work orders which requires individual initiative and judgment.

Job Functions/Accountabilities (Essential and Marginal):

Essential:

  • Completes all assignments in a safe, efficient, and cost effective method.
  • Continuously seeks ways to improve performance of our plant's operation and ensures that your customer's (both internal and external) needs are met. Adhere to the quality system.
  • Performs predictive/preventive and routine maintenance on plant equipment and facilities.
  • Assists in the analysis of equipment failures; recommends improvements and changes to minimize failures.
  • Recommends improvements and changes in the design and application of mechanical equipment, piping, spare parts and tools.
  • Maintains records as required.
  • Assists in the development of work procedures
  • Closes work orders once work is complete
  • Active participation in achievement of maintenance department goals and objectives

Marginal:

  • Assists in planning and scheduling of work orders.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Available for emergency call in outside of normal working hours to support plant operations

Qualifications:

Education:

High school diploma or GED is required

Two year technical or vocational school majoring in mechanical technology is preferred.

Experience:

  • Two years experience in industrial mechanical maintenance, preferably in petro-chemical environment
  • Experience with predictive technologies such as infrared, ultrasound, vibration analysis, oil analysis, etc.
  • Special Qualifications:
  • Read and understand blue prints, schematics, and manuals. Accurately read micrometers and calipers. Able to use oxy-acetylene cutting torch and perform c.s. welding (SMAW).
  • Know current techniques in equipment alignment, lubrication, pump repair, seal repair/replacement, rotating/conveying equipment, hydraulics/pneumatics, and riggings.
  • Certified to operate fork lift truck and 15 ton mobile crane.

Work Conditions:

Chemical Plant/Manufacturing environment. An extensive amount of time is spent on the floor in a manufacturing plant environment. Plant environment is a multi-acre site. Typical daily assignments are physically demanding, requiring balancing, standing, cleaning, reaching, visual discernment, crawling, climbing, twisting, turning, squatting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, full respiratory function and lifting.
