<li>Develops curricula and instructional material such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.</li>
<li>Maintains office hours for students seeking academic advice, assists in student recruitment and retention; and assists students with course-related problems outside of the classroom.</li>
<li>Maintains accurate student attendance records, grades, and other required records in compliance with federal FERPA regulations.</li>
<li>Attends all faculty meetings, college assemblies, professional development and orientation activities, and other meetings as called by the President, Dean or Department Chair.</li>
<li>Keeps abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.</li>

Minimum Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited college/university</li>
<li>Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pilot's certifications and endorsements to meet departmental requirements under Part 141 to include:

<li>FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate</li>
<li>Certified Flight Instructor</li>
<li>Certified Flight Instructor (Instrument)</li>
</ul>

</ul>
Or
<ul>
<li>Must have at least three years of Flight Dispatcher experience in any operations conducted under Part 121 or similar or 5 years of experience as PIC in any operations conducted under Part 121</li>
<li>Must have current Flight Dispatcher License</li>
<li>Have a strong understanding of the Aviation Industry</li>
<li>Must have knowledge of Teaching Methods &amp; Instructional Design</li>
</ul>
Or
<ul>
<li>Minimum of four years’ experience in the discipline or related field.</li>
<li>Bachelor's Degree or Master’s Degree in Aeronautical Science, Aviation Management, Aerospace Administration/Education, Commercial Aviation, Aviation Safety, Aerospace Operations/Engineering, Aviation Business Administration or similar field.</li>
</ul>

<li>Preferred, but not required, Commercial Pilot, Air Transport Pilot, Flight Engineer, Air Traffic Controller, Airframe and Powerplant certifications.</li>
<li>Preferred, but not required, experience in airport operations.</li>

<li>Strong interpersonal skills.</li>
<li>Three years documented experience in the aviation industry</li>
<li>Flight instruction and/or Post-secondary teaching experience in a Part 141 or Part 61 environment </li>

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
<ul>
<li>The faculty member must be knowledgeable and able to instruct in the following technical subject areas: aerodynamics, meteorology, aircraft systems, safety management systems, airline industry, flight operations management, human factors, and aircraft structures. </li>
<li>The individual must be able to conduct flight training on the simulators. </li>
<li>The faculty member must be familiar with using a Learning Management System for conducting face-to-face and online classes. </li>
<li>The faculty member will be responsible for the coordinating, planning, preparing, presenting, and evaluating classroom instruction and related activities, including overseeing all compliance requirements of the FAR Part 141 standards. </li>
<li>Managing agreements with flight training providers with the goal of increasing student completions in the pilot program. </li>
<li>The faculty member is responsible for performing assigned teaching duties during the day, evening, and occasionally weekends of any Southwest Tennessee Community College campus as assigned.   </li>

Job Summary
This is a part-time, Adjunct Faculty position in the Department of Allied Health. THIS POSTING IS NOT A GUARANTEE OF AN OPEN POSITION. Future teaching assignments are on a term-by-term basis, which may include fall, spring and summer. The Adjunct Instructor is responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities. The Instructor is responsible for performing assigned teaching duties during the day, evening, or weekend on any Southwest Tennessee Community College campus. The adjunct instructor is responsible for performing assigned duties during the day, evening, or weekend on any Southwest Tennessee Community College campus. At a minimum, the related activities include instruction, academic advising, serving on various committees, participating in professional activities and organizations.
Job Duties
<ul>
<li>Prepares and delivers instruction delivers instruction in classroom and clinical facilities on topics in Allied Health Science.</li>
<li>Compiles, administers, evaluates and grades students' class work, laboratory work, assignments, tests, and papers fairly and consistently; and keep students informed about their progress through the prompt grading of papers and other work.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Develops curricula and instructional material such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Maintains office hours for students seeking academic advice, assists in student recruitment and retention; and assists students with course-related problems outside of the classroom.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Maintains accurate student attendance records, grades, and other required records in compliance with federal FERPA regulations.</li>
<li>Attends all faculty meetings, college assemblies, professional development and orientation activities, and other meetings as called by the President, Dean or Department Chair.</li>
<li>Keeps abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.</li>
<li>Participates in departmental and college committees; and provides outreach service to the community.</li>
<li>May perform other duties as assign by Department Head/Dean.</li>
</ul>
Minimum Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or master’s degree in another discipline with 18 hours of graduate work in the teaching discipline.</li>
<li>Minimum two (2) years teaching experience in higher education or one (1) year teaching experience and three (3) years employment in the field.</li>
</ul>
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
<ul>
<li>Knowledge of current teaching and learning strategies to facilitate student-centered learning; experience interacting successfully with an ever-growing student population.</li>
<li>Skill in selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things.</li>
<li>Ability to integrate technology into course delivery.</li>
<li>Ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand.</li>
<li>Willingness and flexibility to teach classes using various instructional delivery methods at any of the six locations.</li>
