Our mission is to train exceptional physicians who understand the interconnection of physical and mental health and provide compassionate, patient-centered care of the highest quality.PRINCIPAL DUTIESLeadership &amp; Administration<ul><li>Provide strategic leadership for the Pediatrics section within the Department of Medicine and Primary Care.</li></ul><ul><li>Develop and assess pediatric components of both preclinical and clinical curricula.</li></ul><ul><li>Collaborate on transition courses (e.g., transition to clinical rotations, transition to residency) with pediatric relevance.</li></ul><ul><li>Recruit, mentor, and support pediatric faculty and preceptors.</li></ul><ul><li>Build and maintain partnerships with pediatric offices, hospitals, clinics, and community organizations to support clinical training.</li></ul><ul><li>Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and institutional policies.</li></ul>Teaching, Curriculum Development, &amp; Student Success<ul><li>Teach medical students using evidence-based instructional methods, including case-based and small-group learning focused on pediatric care.</li></ul><ul><li>Integrate pediatric content into interdisciplinary curriculum threads.</li></ul><ul><li>Support student coaching, mentoring, and professional development, especially in pediatric rotations and career pathways.</li></ul><ul><li>Collaborate with other faculty to ensure pediatric principles are embedded throughout the curriculum.</li></ul>Service<ul><li>Represent IllinoisCOM in pediatric and medical education organizations.</li></ul><ul><li>Participate in student recruitment and community outreach, especially in child health initiatives.</li></ul><ul><li>Serve on college and university committees.</li></ul><ul><li>Promote service-learning and pediatric community engagement.</li></ul><ul><li>Advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion in pediatric education.</li></ul>Research &amp; Scholarly Activity<ul><li>Encourage and support pediatric research and scholarship among faculty and students.</li></ul><ul><li>Seek external funding and partnerships to enhance pediatric research initiatives.</li></ul><ul><li>Ensure ethical and regulatory compliance for pediatric research activities.</li></ul>BASIC QUALIFICATIONS<ul><li>DO or MD degree with board certification in Pediatrics.</li></ul><ul><li>Minimum five (5) years of experience in medical education, residency training, or faculty leadership.</li></ul><ul><li>Demonstrated excellence in teaching, curriculum development, and student mentorship.</li></ul><ul><li>Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.</li></ul><ul><li>Commitment to collaborative, interprofessional education and the integration of osteopathic principles in training.</li></ul><ul><li>At least five (5) years of clinical pediatric practice experience.</li></ul>IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS<ul><li>Experience as a section head, department chair, program director, or senior faculty leader in an accredited medical school or residency program.</li></ul><ul><li>Background in educational innovation, simulation-based pediatric training, and competency-based assessment.</li></ul><ul><li>Established record of research and scholarly activity in pediatrics or medical education.</li></ul><ul><li>Demonstrated commitment to health equity, diversity, and inclusion in pediatric care and education.</li></ul>POSITION DETAILS<ul><li>Salary range: $43,750 – $62,500 annually, commensurate with experience and academic rank.</li></ul><ul><li>Location: Chicago, IL</li></ul><ul><li>Reports to: Chair of Medicine and Primary Care</li></ul><ul><li>Employment Type: Part-time (0.25 FTE)</li></ul><ul><li>Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.</li></ul>Compensation &amp; BenefitsThis opportunity is budgeted at $43,750 - $62,500 annually base compensation.
