Candidates either need to be certified in Oregon at time of hire, or out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain certification through the DPSST Career Officer Development (COD) program to qualify for the lateral incentive package. Eligibility for the COD program cannot be determined until after hire; candidates will be required to submit certification and training documentation to determine COD eligibility immediately after hire. All lateral candidates must successfully complete a field training evaluation program (FTEP) and a 12-month probationary period.
