Responsibilities
The Staff Surveyor is responsible for supporting the successful execution of land surveying projects through technical oversight, project coordination, and quality assurance. Working under the direction of a Project Manager, this position provides professional oversight of boundary surveying tasks performed by technicians, field crews, and other project team members to ensure deliverables are completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable laws, professional standards, project requirements, and company quality standards.
- Determine, analyze, and resolve boundary by evaluating deeds, plats, title commitments, survey records, field evidence, and other relevant information in accordance with applicable laws and professional standards.
- Provide professional oversight and direction for boundary surveying tasks performed by technicians and field crews, ensuring work is completed in accordance with project requirements, company standards, and state surveying regulations.
- Review and approve boundary analyses, field procedures, calculations, plats, legal descriptions, and other survey deliverables to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company QA/QC standards.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Staff Surveyors, technicians, and field crews to execute project scope and schedules.
- Sign and seal plats, survey documents, legal descriptions, and other deliverables as required by state licensing regulations.
- Mentor and train technicians and field personnel on boundary surveying principles, evidence evaluation, state surveying requirements, and company standards.
- Provide technical guidance and resolve complex boundary, title, and survey issues throughout project execution.
- Support continuous improvement of surveying procedures, technical standards, and quality assurance processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the Company's strategic goals.
Qualifications
- Active Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS/PLS) license in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, or Louisiana.
- Preferred, but not required: Experience supporting renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and battery energy storage (BESS), as well as data center developments.
- Demonstrated experience determining, analyzing, and resolving boundary using deeds, plats, title commitments, survey records, and field evidence.
- Strong knowledge of boundary law, surveying principles, state surveying regulations, and professional standards.
- Experience reviewing, approving, signing and sealing survey deliverables in accordance with applicable licensing requirements.
- Proven ability to provide technical oversight and mentorship to technicians and field crews.
- Strong understanding of QA/QC processes and a commitment to producing accurate, high quality survey deliverables.
- Strong technical set, including AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to effectively prioritize multiple projects and meet established deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
