Job Description
The Director of Nursing plays a vital role in our Surgery Center, ensuring the delivery of exceptional nursing care and the smooth operation of the facility. This position involves providing clinical expertise, leadership, and administrative oversight to maintain the highest standards of patient care. The Director will collaborate closely with physicians, staff, and other professionals to ensure efficient and safe facility operations.Responsibilities
- Ensure expert nursing care delivery through ongoing staff education and evidence-based clinical practice.
- Supervise staff to guarantee adherence to departmental policies and procedures.
- Review growth objectives annually and recommend planning and budgeting for nursing and clinical operations.
- Resolve staff, patient, and physician issues promptly, escalating to the Administrator as needed.
- Complete performance reviews for direct reports and monitor budgetary practices.
- Prepare staff schedules, implement performance improvement activities, and provide ongoing competency training.
- Serve as the onsite infection control prevention representative, overseeing safety programs and USP 800 compliance.
- Communicate organizational updates, policy changes, and education needs to staff and physicians.
- Promote teamwork and cooperation, supporting organizational goals through quality customer service.
- Act as the Acting Administrator when the named Administrator is unavailable, ensuring seamless facility operations.
Qualifications
- BSN preferred, or 5+ years of experience in a supervisory/administrative role in healthcare.
- Current Registered Nurse license in New Jersey, BLS certification required, ACLS preferred.
- National certification in specialty preferred, with 3 years of clinical experience required within the specialty.
- At least 1 year of supervisory experience, with excellent verbal and written communication and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred, with training provided for incumbents.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced surgery center environment, with potential exposure to infectious diseases and hazards.
- Physical demands include stooping, kneeling, pushing heavy equipment, and lifting up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
- Color distinction ability is required for some departments.
- Must be able to demonstrate department-specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
