Position Summary

Proliance Surgery Center at Valley is seeking professional registered nurses (RN) or new-graduate nurses interested in applying for our Perioperative Nursing Residency Program, which prepares the RN to work in the operating room as a circulating and scrub nurse at our outpatient orthopedic surgery center. This residency program consists of an initial structured 12 - 14 week educational course using AORN’s Periop 101: A Core Curriculum™ supplemented with interactive learning labs, peer discussions, and precepted clinical experiences. Course administration and successful transition to practice is guided by an in-center perioperative nurse educator where individual learner needs are addressed.

Work Schedule: 4x 10-hour shifts, Monday - Friday, 6am - 4:30pm PT

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The key duties and responsibilities of the RN include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with all members of the health care team to provide optimal care to the patient throughout their surgical experience.
  • Maintain a friendly, positive and caring attitude with all patients, physicians and staff.
  • Assist in patient education during all phases of their surgical experience at the Center.
  • Assist in assuring that equipment is functioning properly.
  • Monitor use of all supplies. Assist with inventory control by proper count of supplies/time used.
  • Document appropriately the care that is given to the patient
  • Continuing education to meet State requirements and keep current with health care changes
  • Display professionalism at work and in the community as a representative of the Center
  • Take an active role on committees within the department
  • Identifies actual and potential risk to patients and others and takes action to minimize or eliminate risk and maximize safety
  • Performs charge nurse responsibilities as staffing demands and as requested

Education/Experience

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Current State licensure and BLS and ACLS accreditation, or within 6 months of hire
  • Two years of OR (on-the-job training), Recovery Room, Intensive Care or Emergency Room experience is desired. New RN graduates with an interest in the operating room will be considered.
