Current projects are focused on the role of telemedicine in mental health and addiction care; factors influencing the low rates of use of medications that treat alcohol use disorder and opioid use disorder; and the impacts of changes in provider payment policies on access to mental health and addiction treatment services, quality of care, and spending. &nbsp;The primary task for the Research Assistant will be to use statistical software to work with large data sets, including insurance claims datasets. This work will involve creating and managing data files that can be analyzed and conducting statistical analyses under the supervision of Dr. Huskamp. The Research Assistant is expected to have strong critical thinking and excellent writing skills to assist with drafting and preparation of manuscripts, presentations, and grant proposals. Research in the department's laboratories is primarily focused on diseases of developing countries.Insects are a key gateway for spreading disease because of their ability to ferry pathogens from one host to another. These vectors represent important biological touch points, especially in malaria, and we are pursuing innovative research programs to illuminate their roles and identify strategies for future disease control. In Africa — where the majority of malaria deaths occur — the primary vector of disease is the mosquito, Anopheles gambiae. The malaria parasite is transmitted through the bites of female mosquitoes, whose high reproductive capacity fuels malaria transmission. Therefore, targeting these insects (and the parasites they carry) holds great promise as a strategy for future disease control.The successful candidate will support the research of the Department and of the Catterccia Laboratory, focusing on parasite-vector interactions. They also walk customers through their physician’s dosage and usage instructions to ensure medications are safely and effectively consumed. Duties &amp; Responsibilities: • Works with pharmacy manager to meet area-specific goals and goals of the department • Establishes collaborative pharmacist/patient relationships • Participates in training and development for other pharmacists, technicians and interns • Assures safe and accurate dispensing of medications • Provide accurate verification of medications • Identifies, mitigates, prevents, and documents problems with prescriptions • Provides counseling to patients on the proper use of their medications, possible side effects and the role of prescribed medications in the overall therapeutic care plan • Accurately dispenses controlled substances in accordance with the MA and Federal laws • Manages all queues in the pharmacy software system • Participates in risk evaluation and mitigation strategy (REMS) compliance and monitoring • Utilize the Mass PAT prescription monitoring program for appropriate controlled substance monitoring • Provide Medication Therapy Management • Assist providers with pre-authorization, use of Cover My Meds, if applicable Other Duties &amp; Responsibilities: • Reads, understands, and complies with all Standards of Conduct, JCAHO policies, etc. • Adheres to EBNHC standards of Employee Conduct and all related policies and procedures by: • Demonstrating excellent customer service; • Showing respect to other employees; • Adhering to standards of cultural competency and non-discrimination; • Adhering to standards of privacy; • Adhering to attendance and other policies and utilizing appropriate notification and other procedures. • Upholds procedures and systems to safeguard the confidentiality of all patient and employee information. • Upholds safety policies, practices, and procedures, including safety, fire safety, electrical safety, proper body mechanics and material handling, office/ergonomic safety, and other employee safety measures.
