Job Description The Institutional Data Initiative (IDI) is a new research center working to advance society’s relationship with knowledge by expanding access to, and deepening our understanding of, the data that underpins AI. By collaborating with library, government, and academic institutions to publish their knowledge collections as AI training sets, IDI seeks to 1) empower those institutions and the cultures they represent, 2) build a foundational pipeline for academic inquiry of AI, and 3) advance the state of the art for all builders of AI systems.&nbsp;IDI’s work spans the AI data ecosystem—from digitization, data structuring, and metadata synthesis, to safety and security analysis, all the way through to benchmarking and the development of ethical and governance frameworks. Institutional collaboration forms the gateway to this work and IDI places a particular emphasis on opportunities with institutions that expand the cultural breadth of knowledge represented in the building blocks of AI.&nbsp;At its core, IDI is a data practice around which other interdisciplinary work is convened. Their understanding of machine learning and AI fundamentals will help identify areas of high impact and utilize models to facilitate this work. Each Principal Engineer must bring a unique set of skills and approaches to a team of engineers whose distinct capabilities complement the whole. Data Modeler The Role The Data Modeler works closely with business and technical teams to drive the creation of scalable, flexible, well governed, and detailed data design solutions. They drive adoption of enterprise and industry standard modeling methodologies. They partner with project teams to deliver practical &amp; resilient data model designs that meet current business needs and are capable of easily adapting to new needs in the future. The Expertise and Skills You Bring Requirements and Analysis <ul> <li>Engage with business and technology partners to understand the business requirements, analyze the data gaps, and recommend appropriate solutions. </li><li>Assess objectives, use cases, data requirements and specifications documents created by other analysts. </li><li>Analyze and resolve major data issues that arise during the course of projects or in production environments. </li></ul> Data Design <ul> <li>Define conceptual and logical data models, with strong definitions, to capture organizational data needs across multiple subject areas. </li><li>Build physical design for various types of systems such as operational systems, data warehouses, data lakes and others. </li><li>Actively perform dedicated and targeted data analysis to identify risks for management. Strong coordination with key business partners will be required to obtain data sets and confirm results of the analysis. </li><li>Document database solutions and present solutions to product partners, project teams, Data Engineering team and architecture review boards. </li><li>Passionate about technology and delivering solutions in integrated data environments. Align and ensure consistency to enterprise standards on technology, tools, and procedures. </li><li>Knowledge of and experience with tools, techniques and processes for complex data gathering, analysis and reporting on data for large organizations. </li><li>Find opportunities to use enterprise data models for new projects to minimize work and data duplication </li><li>Strong interest in playing a technical data steward role and partnering across our business to understand and document our data, appropriate data usages and helping Asset Mgmt. derive the maximum value from its data. </li></ul> Qualifications Education and Experience (dependent on level) <ul> <li>A Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience </li><li>10+ years’ experience with data design, analysis, and development. Development experience weighted towards PL/SQL and ETL tools. </li><li>Demonstrated experience in the following areas : Database Management Systems, Data API design and implementation, PL/SQL, warehouses, data modeling and data profiling. </li></ul> Skills and Knowledge <ul> <li>Demonstrable experience with SAP Power Designer or similar data modeling tool required. </li><li>Advanced analytical and problem solving skills. </li><li>Advanced understanding of the database development process including analysis, design, coding, testing, problem resolution and planning, and full competency in all relevant coding environments, languages, tools, and platforms </li><li>Outstanding interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written skills to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical associates in the company </li><li>Proven interpersonal skills, including the ability to work across the organization and interact/influence/negotiate optimally at all levels of management and peers. </li><li>Experience in working in data management / governance with an understanding on how data is ingested, stored, and maintained. </li><li>Understanding of principles and standard methodologies around Data Architecture </li><li>Ability to prioritize data analysis initiatives based on business criticality. </li><li>Experience in the financial services industry area a plus </li><li>Knowledge in cryptocurrency area a plus. </li></ul> The Team Asset Management Technology is seeking a Principal level candidate in the data analysis and data modeling organization.
