Join us on our journey of growth!Remote Opportunity - Open to candidates anywhere in the United StatesPOSITION SUMMARY:The Senior Director, U.S. Patient Advocacy will lead the company’s efforts to build meaningful, impactful and mutually productive partnerships with community organizations, with a focus on neurological conditions in line with Lundbeck’s corporate focus. This role will drive the development and execution of a comprehensive patient advocacy strategy and is intended to integrate external community engagement with internal leadership to advance patient-centric solutions. The Senior Director will provide strategic leadership, mentorship, and operational oversight, ensuring the patient voice is integrated into all areas of the organization, while also overseeing the functional structure and development of a high-performing Patient Advocacy team at Lundbeck.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Strategic Leadership<ul><li>Develop and implement a coordinated U.S. patient advocacy strategy, aligning with corporate goals and priorities</li><li>Serve as the organization’s primary expert on patient advocacy, providing insights, best practices, and guidance across teams and therapeutic areas</li><li>Lead cross-functional collaborations to embed the patient perspective into product development, clinical trial design, regulatory submissions, commercialization, and post-launch programs</li><li>Enhance the integration and impact of Lundbeck’s US Patient Advocacy function.</li></ul>Functional Development and Team Leadership<ul><li>Build and lead a high-performing Patient Advocacy team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and patient-centered thinking</li><li>Provide mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities for team members to expand their expertise and impact</li><li>Identify and implement operational improvements to enhance the team’s efficiency, effectiveness, and engagement with internal and external stakeholders</li><li>Establish clear goals, metrics, and performance standards for the Patient Advocacy function, ensuring alignment with company priorities and industry standards</li></ul> Patient and Advocacy Group Engagement<ul><li>Establish and sustain productive relationships with U.S.-based patient advocacy organizations, patient leaders, caregivers and other influential voices in the neuroscience and rare neuroscience community</li><li>Partner with advocacy groups to co-create programs and initiatives that support disease awareness, education, access to care, and research participation</li><li>Represent the company at advocacy meetings, conferences, and community events, acting as a visible and trusted advocate for patient-centric partnerships</li><li>Ensure that patient advocacy initiatives are inclusive and address the diverse needs of the communities we serve</li></ul>Internal Advocacy and Integration<ul><li>Partner with internal teams (e.g., Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Corporate Affairs, and Commercial) to ensure that patient insights are integrated across the organization</li><li>Support efforts to amplify patient and caregiver voices in key forums, including public policy advocacy, clinical research design, and regulatory discussions</li><li>Develop training programs and resources to help employees understand the challenges and needs of the communities we serve</li><li>Act as a key advisor to leadership, bringing forward patient insights and trends to inform strategic decision-making</li></ul>Metrics and Reporting<ul><li>Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the impact of patient advocacy programs and initiatives</li><li>Provide regular reports and updates to senior leadership, highlighting successes, challenges, and emerging opportunities within the neuroscience and rare disease spaces</li></ul>REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and SKILLS:<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in public, health, communications, life sciences, or other relevant field</li><li>12+ years of experience in patient advocacy, external affairs (Communications&nbsp;Government Affairs, Medical Affairs) within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare industry</li><li>5+ years of experience leading and developing teams, with demonstrated success in building high-performing functions</li><li>Proven ability to establish and maintain strategic partnerships with advocacy groups, patient leaders, and caregivers</li><li>Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing successful advocacy plans and integrated communication programs in alignment with the company's strategic initiatives</li><li>Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of U.S. healthcare system including compliance, legal, regulatory, reimbursement and public policy considerations that impact healthcare industry and patient engagement</li><li>Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to inspire and guide teams toward shared goals</li><li>Results-driven mindset balanced with requirements of a patient advocacy role/function.</li><li>Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with an empathetic and patient-focused approach. Able to interact with tact, composure and understanding of the importance of patient journey and the impact of health conditions on them and their support network</li><li>A passion for improving the lives of patients and families impacted by neurological conditions</li><li>Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with internal and external cross-functional teams</li></ul>PREFERRED&nbsp;EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and SKILLS:<ul><li>Strong preference to be based in Deerfield, IL&nbsp;Office</li><li>Advanced degree in life sciences, public health, communications, or a related field</li><li>Expertise in rare diseases, with a strong understanding of the unique needs of the rare neuroscience community</li><li>Patient advocacy experience within rare diseases</li></ul>TRAVEL:<ul><li>Domestic travel up to 30% monthly with some International travel required.</li></ul>The range displayed is a national range, and if selected for this role, may vary based on various factors such as the candidate’s geographical location, qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Salary Pay Range: $260,000 - $310,000 and eligibility for a 30% bonus target based on company and individual performance, and eligibility to participate in the company’s long-term incentive plan.
