In addition to overseeing these large-scale conferences, the Director of Programs &amp; Events is responsible for multiple strategic collaborations with public service and political partnerships including the management and curation of John F. Kennedy New Frontier Award and the Profiles in Courage award with the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation. The Director is expected to manage existing IOP collaborations with national organizations and to develop new opportunities for the IOP and the wider Harvard community.

The interdisciplinary Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies was founded in 1948. Its mission is to advance research and scholarship on Russia and Eurasia at Harvard and to train new generations of scholars and experts on the region. The Center administers a master’s program in regional studies; sponsors academic, cultural, and community events; supports faculty and student research and regional and thematic research programs (Central Asia, Georgia, Imperial Russia, Cold War Studies), maintains the Davis Center Collection at Fung Library; hosts postdoctoral fellows, visiting scholars, and &nbsp;research associates; publishes the award-winning Journal of Cold War Studies; and sponsors outreach to K-14 educators and students, and the broader community. 
 
The Center is a home to all members of the Harvard community interested in the region — undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, staff, visitors, and alumni. Manages staff to build and develop a diverse, effective, and inclusive team; effectively plans and delegates work; provides staff development and mentorship; communicates and monitors performance expectations; motivates and nurtures direct reports; and ensures compliance with Harvard and FAS policies and procedures.

Participates actively in full-cycle admissions process. Teaches the 2-year proseminar to all REECA AM students and plays an active role in job placement of graduating students. Ensures that all venues are well-maintained, safe, secure and efficiently managed.</li><li>Develops an in-depth knowledge of the facilities in the portfolio, particularly with respect to complex features including glass, lighting and shade systems, HVAC systems and interior and exterior materials.</li><li>Partnering with the Deputy Director, sets short- and long-range goals and priorities for facilities management. Position Description:<ul><li>Strategy &amp; Thought Leadership<ul><li>Robust portfolio of research:Lead the planning and execution of a portfolio of research, analysis and writing alongside co-authors and contributors including faculty, fellows, students, or practitioners.&nbsp;</li><li>Generate and disseminate new ideas about how to best understand&nbsp; independent media, through writing, public speaking, and engaging with scholars and practitioners.&nbsp;</li><li>High-Impact Insights: Conduct essential research and organize impactful convenings, and other activities with a focus on real-world impact that can lead to an information environment that better serves the public.</li></ul></li><li>Core Activities<ul><li>Mentorship and Management<ul><li>Advise and direct senior fellows, research fellows, and visiting scholars associated with the program and manage the overall research agenda.&nbsp;</li><li>Work with senior faculty to conceptualize and oversee the implementation of interdisciplinary research grantsintended to fuel innovative research by wide-ranging teams across Harvard on issues at the intersection of independent media, technology platform power and democratic participation.&nbsp;</li><li>Supervise staff; to be determined based on the growth of the program</li><li>Mentor and supervise a portfolio of student research assistants working on a range of topics to support the program’s research areas</li></ul></li><li>Other Tasks:&nbsp;<ul><li>Act as a senior figure building links between the Program and other parts of the Shorenstein Center, Harvard Kennedy School, Harvard University, the Cambridge community, and beyond.&nbsp;</li><li>Oversee the preparation of funding/grant proposals, ensuring that all sponsor guidelines are met and compliance requirements are followed; oversee monitoring of grants and preparation of reports to comply with reporting requirements for sponsored research grants and awards.</li><li>Oversee the program’s budgets and expenses</li><li>Working closely with the Center’s Communications team, represent the program nationally and internationally, including via written work and appearances in media, conferences, and other forums. As a Senior Director you will:&nbsp; 
 
STRATEGIC AND OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT OF OCP&nbsp;<ul><li>Partner with Associate Dean to manage annual strategic planning process for OCP.&nbsp;</li><li>Oversee operational management and track progress towards annual and multi-year strategic plan.&nbsp;</li><li>Coordinate other OCP team related operations such as team meetings, annual retreat.&nbsp;</li><li>Direct program data analysis and reporting with Assistant Director for Curriculum Planning and Registration and Communications Coordinator.&nbsp;</li><li>Assist Associate Dean with Human Resource issues related to personnel in the in-house clinics and Student Practice Organizations (SPOs).&nbsp; 
&nbsp;</li></ul>&nbsp;ACADEMIC PROGRAM&nbsp;<ul><li>Lead strategy or management projects related to academic program as assigned by the Associate Dean.&nbsp;</li><li>Support agenda and implementation of the Clinical Committee.&nbsp;</li><li>Oversee the Externship Program through strategic partnership with the Director of Externships.&nbsp;</li><li>Oversee the HLS Independent Clinical Program in conjunction with the Director of Externships and the Attorney Advisor for the LL.M. Program, including meeting with students to assist them to develop viable projects that meet the program requirements.&nbsp;</li><li>Coordinate with International Legal Studies Program regarding funding for students with approved international projects.&nbsp;</li><li>Advise students on clinic selection and registration, both on an individual basis and in group settings.&nbsp;</li></ul>&nbsp; 
STUDENT PRACTICE ORGANIZATIONS&nbsp;<ul><li>Work with Clinical Faculty and Instructors who supervise the legal work of the SPOs, as well as student leaders, providing support and resources to strengthen SPO work, including developing annual and multi-year priorities for SPO program.&nbsp;&nbsp;
