<li>Develops clinical practice objectives in order to identify clinical practice skills to be mastered using textbooks, agency procedures manuals and job descriptions, course syllabi, and accreditation criteria.</li>
<li>Selects and evaluates clinical facilities in order to provide the optimum learning environment for students using course objectives and knowledge of available clinical opportunities.</li>
<li>Identifies clinical practice experiences and client assignments in affiliating clinical agencies in order to provide the student with the optimum environment and opportunities to master (practice) clinical skills (competencies) using equipment and supplies in the campus practice laboratory, and client Kardex, charts and other medical records in clinical agencies.</li>
<li>Provides one-to-one supervision of student clinical practice performance in order to evaluate student mastery of clinical practice objectives and provide for the safety of all assigned clients using available clinical resources and clinical expertise.</li>
<li>Plans and conducts pre- and post-clinical conferences in order to facilitate clinical learning using group discussions, individual student presentations, and guest presenters.</li>
<li>Grades nursing care plans and other written assignments in order to determine the ability of the student to apply theoretical knowledge to the client care setting using written nursing care plan, grading criteria, and clinical practice guides.</li>
<li>Maintains records for clinical students in order to comply with clinical agency requirements and protect the student, clinical agencies, and the public using a variety of information sheets and forms.</li>
<li>Documents student clinical practice performance in order to provide a record of student progress or lack of progress towards mastery of required skills using course objectives, clinical evaluation forms, student counseling forms, and individual conferences.</li>

Job Summary
TBR—The College System of Tennessee serves community colleges and technical colleges across the state. The Office of Policy &amp; Strategy works at the front lines of TBR’s efforts to develop insights about student success through research, policy analysis, and innovation. Through the Office of Policy &amp; Strategy’s data and research, TBR is able to turn research findings into actionable information to support postsecondary access and success. Within the Office of Policy &amp; Strategy, the TBR Policy Lab leads research about the effects of state and system policy on student outcomes. The TBR Policy Lab currently leads projects about corequisite learning support, dual enrollment, and employment outcomes for graduates of TBR colleges. The TBR Policy Lab also collaborates closely with the TBR Innovation Lab, which leads the design, implementation, and evaluation of projects to improve student success. The Director of Policy Research will lead the TBR Policy Lab’s project portfolio. The Director will coordinate research projects by developing research designs, leading data collection and analysis, and using research findings to make recommendations to improve student outcomes at TBR colleges. Additionally, the Director will manage project planning and coordinate the work of internal and external partners affiliated with the TBR Policy Lab. In this role, the Director of Policy Research will have the opportunity to apply advanced research skills, engage with system and community college leaders, and interact with academic research partners. Policy research and data analysis are embedded into TBR’s work across the four units of the Policy and Strategy division.
