TCAT Shelbyville is working to build a pool of substitute/part-time temporary instructors to support our various programs. The communities that we serve are rich with skilled industry and workforce experience. We want to tap into that pool of talent! AVAILABILITY/CLOSING DATE: This pool application posting does not guarantee an open position. Applications for substitute/part-time temporary instructors are accepted on a continuous basis and reviewed by the department as needs arise and as openings become available. Teaching locations and work schedules vary. The length of a teaching assignment may range from one day to one year per assignment.
HOURLY PAY:&nbsp;$20 - $35 dollars per hour, based on experience, education, position assignment, and institutional guidelines.
TEACHING LOCATIONS: The Practical Nursing program and related pre-requisite courses (A&amp;P, Math for Meds) are offered at two TCAT Shelbyville teaching locations in Shelbyville and Winchester, Tennessee. Teaching location and work hours will vary based on the coverage needed.
DIRECT SUPERVISON FROM: VP of Academics and Compliance
SUMMARY
The instructor will be responsible for the effective performance of assigned responsibilities and duties. Lesson plans, assignments, and instructions will be provided and used as a guideline to lead student activities. The instructor will oversee student conduct, safety, discipline, and appearance, addressing issues as they arise with the VP of Academics and Compliance.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS for Clinical Nursing Applicants

The role will be responsible for the following:
Under the supervision of the Program Director and/or Lead Faculty, Adjunct Instructors have as their chief duty the instruction of assigned classes, providing quality instruction for student learning and maintaining a positive learning environment in the classroom. Classes are taught in a variety of formats (virtual, online, hybrid, on-ground). Responsibilities for Adjunct Instructors include conducting classes using appropriate instructional practices, maintain records of attendance, evaluate student performance on assignments or lab activities, assign midterm grades, assign final grades, utilize faculty feedback, complete mandatory training as needed, and perform other duties as assigned. Beyond teaching responsibilities, Adjunct Instructors are also obligated to comply and support college policies as set forth in the Strategic Plan, the College Catalog, the Adjunct Faculty Handbook, and the Employment Agreement.

POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for delivering quality instruction in an equitable environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/ JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Teach courses via on-ground, online, hybrid or web-enhanced delivery modes as assigned. Work with course leads and/or program coordinators/directors to ensure consistent and equitable student experiences. Utilize the college’s learning management system to provide course materials to students. Submit updated department syllabi prior to the first day of class. Regularly check NSCC email and departmental mailbox. Respond to emails/messages within 24 hours except on the weekend. Complete all required reports such as student engagement, Early Alerts, progress reports, grade submissions; administer and return surveys and student outcome assessments by the required deadlines. Job Summary
Practical Nursing Adjunct Instructors are responsible for teaching and supervision of nursing students in on-campus classroom/lab and off-campus clinical settings; evaluating and advising students; maintaining records and completing reports; participating in the development of the program, and other duties as assigned. This position reports to the Health Sciences Education Coordinator.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Requirements: • Candidate must possess at least an Associate Degree in Nursing and hold a current Registered Nursing license in good standing with the State of Tennessee. • Minimum of three (3) years clinical experience as an RN or Allied Health instructor within the last five (5) years. • Evidence in instructional program management and supervision, teaching and curriculum building is desired. • Evidence of proficiency in oral and written communication skills. • Must have good organizational and planning skills. • Must be willing to remain current in the nursing profession. • Must have ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
Teaching experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Have a thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of nursing. Have teaching and/or peer training experience. Demonstrate expertise in the clinical skills required for healthcare associates. Demonstrate knowledge of the methods of effective leadership, teaching and supervision. Have the ability to maintain organized instruction and clinical experiences. Be willing to stay current in the medical field. Must possess good oral and written communication skills; must have good organizational and planning skills. Be willing to learn and use individualized instructional techniques. Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationship with students, faculty, staff and public. Must have excellent professional ethics.

Minimum Qualifications:

<li>Minimum of three (3) years current clinical nursing experience.</li>
<li>High level skills in oral and written communication;</li>
<li>Evidence of strong work ethic as it relates to timeliness of reporting, oversight of multiple on-going projects, and the ability to work with others;</li>
<li>Proficient computer skills;</li>
<li>Ability to deal tactfully with the students, public, and co-workers; to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions; and</li>
<li>Possess a valid TN driver’s license.</li>

<li>Prior teaching experience, especially in a postsecondary setting.</li>
<li>Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing from an accredited institution.</li>

General Duties:
The part-time Clinical Adjunct is responsible for teaching and supervision of nursing students in on-campus classroom/lab and off-campus clinical settings; evaluating and advising students; maintaining records and completing reports; participating in the development of the program, and other assigned duties. This position reports to the Health Careers Coordinator. This part-time position will be for two 11-hour clinical days per week, Mondays and Wednesday, from 6:30 Am until 6:00 PM.

The Clinical Adjunct Instructor is responsible for performing the following duties:&nbsp;

<li>Teach skills appropriate to the occupational area that will prepare students to become an economic asset.</li>
<li>Guide students in selection, perception, and performance of suitable learning activities.</li>
<li>Organize class time effectively and efficiently in order that learning activities can be accomplished.</li>
<li>Start and end class at designated time.</li>
<li>Utilize individual and/or group instructional procedures appropriate to the requirements of the assigned activities and the students’ needs.</li>
<li>Supervise student conduct to ensure that the potentially hazardous clinics/labs/classrooms provide an orderly environment conducive to productivity.</li>
<li>Maintain a well-organized, safe, and clean clinic and/or classroom.</li>
<li>Advise students of the importance of safety in relation to machinery, tools, and equipment.</li>
<li>Investigate and make a full report on every accident on the day the accident occurs, using the “Preliminary Accident Report Form.”</li>
<li>Be responsible for equipment, tools, and supplies assigned to clinic and/or classroom.</li>
<li>Maintain an inventory of equipment, controls storage, repair, and usage of materials to minimize loss or abuse.</li>
<li>Keep and share with students continuously updated records of attendance and competencies acquired during their enrollment.</li>
<li>Evaluate each student’s progress at multiple intervals during each trimester and complete permanent records.</li>
<li>Assist, as directed by administration, in follow-up evaluations of graduates and their programs.</li>
<li>Attend and participate in various school functions such as graduation, open houses, and other functions as assigned by the Academic Coordinator.</li>
<li>Meet deadlines of yearly mandated training.</li>
<li>Perform other duties directly related to career and technical education as assigned by the Nursing Coordinator.</li>

Physical Demands and Working Conditions (ADA REQUIREMENTS)
Walking, climbing, bending, and stooping. Work performed in office, testing center and classroom environments. Position requires the use of a computer.
Sedentary Work – Walking or standing to a significant degree; sitting for brief periods of time; be able to bend and stoop; use body members (arms, hands, fingers).
SALARY:&nbsp;$35.00 per hour EMPLOYMENT DOCUMENTS:&nbsp;Current federal law requires identification and eligibility verification prior to employment.
