Under minimal guidance from the Chief Research Compliance Officer, the SRCO is capable of establishing effective research compliance policies, procedures, and guidelines, in accordance with the seven elements of an effective compliance program pursuant to the Federal Sentencing Guidelines. This requires examining regulatory requirements and working with the respective departments and schools, to assess an approach and lead the development and implementation of an exemplary compliance program. The SRCO represents the Office of the Vice Provost for Research on a number of university-wide committees and is expected to engage at the national level, represent Harvard at national meetings and build national reputations. Specific research regulatory activities cover a wide range of topics such as Conflicts of Interest in research, Export Control, protection of Human Subjects in Research, Animal Care and Use programs, Research Security, Occupational and Environmental Health and Safety, Research Misconduct, Stem Cell Research, Research Data, and Privacy, International Research Compliance, etc. The SRCO will work on any number of these topics by serving as the focal point for compliance activities and assignments, according to the program’s needs. This position requires domain expertise in in one or more of the following areas: thermodynamics, chemical speciation modeling, electrochemistry, high-temperature chemistry, and computational method development. A strong theoretical background in aspects of equilibrium thermodynamics, Gibbs energy minimization, reaction kinetics, and numerical optimization is highly beneficial. You will apply their expertise to large-scale thermo-chemical modeling challenges relevant to advanced nuclear technologies, including molten salt reactor speciation, chemical processing for critical materials, and corrosion-related chemistry. The position will involve work in the MOOSE ecosystem, including development of new capabilities for Gibbs energy minimization acceleration, multiphysics coupling between thermochemical models and neutronics/CFD/corrosion simulations, and integration of thermodynamic databases with mesoscale corrosion models. Experience with high-temperature materials, molten salts, or nuclear fuel cycle chemistry is beneficial but not required. Computational Chemical Modeling Postdoctoral Research Associate

Description Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Post-Irradiation Examination (PIE) Lead Research Scientist. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located at the Materials and Fuels Complex with every Friday off. &nbsp;The Nuclear Materials Performance (NMP) division performs post-irradiation examination (PIE) and advanced characterization of irradiated nuclear materials such as structural materials and fuels. &nbsp;For this position, most work activities will be performed in the Structural Properties Laboratory (formally called the Sample Preparation Laboratory). &nbsp;This is a newly constructed hot cell facility that focuses on PIE of structural materials. The job will focus on mechanical testing as well as environmental testing of irradiated materials. &nbsp;The primary functions of this role involve operation of mechanical property measurement instruments, collection of data and its analysis, development and implementation of new techniques related to mechanical testing and environmental testing, finding funding opportunities, mentoring junior staff in research and lab activities, and support research activities in SPL. &nbsp;A further detailed list of responsibilities is described below. Are you ready to take on the challenge to help us build the future?<h4>Responsibilities</h4><ul><li> Collaborates with SCE stakeholders including project sponsors, data analysts, and subject matter experts to fully understand the key business problems, goals, objectives and desired outcomes for data science projects</li><li>Assists more experienced data scientists and analytic leaders to help in developing solutions to complex, data-intensive business issues using appropriate data science methodologies</li><li> Identifies and thoroughly assesses what internal and external data sources are available and relevant to address the target business issues and objectives</li><li> Implements and improves processes for collecting complete, high-quality, standardized data from identified sources, addressing any issues with missing values or data anomalies</li><li>Selects the most appropriate data sources and prepares the data for analysis by cleaning, merging, filtering, transforming or enriching as needed</li><li> Validates analysis findings by taking an experimental, iterative approach including statistical testing and seeking feedback from stakeholders</li><li> Presents analysis insights, assumptions, validation results and recommendations clearly to business stakeholders in language suited to the audience using basic data visualization techniques</li><li> Applies statistical analysis, machine learning algorithms, data mining techniques and data visualizations appropriately to model problems, discover key insights, and identifies opportunities from the available data</li><li>Proposes innovative applications of data mining methodologies to gain new perspectives and insights from existing data sources that may not have been considered previously</li><li>Keeps abreast of new and current data science and big data techniques</li><li>A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.</li></ul><h4>Minimum Qualifications</h4><ul><li>Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or Business Analytics.</li><li>One or more years of experience analyzing or manipulating complex data.</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications<ul><li>Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in an Applied Sciences or STEM discipline.</li><li>Industry certifications in data science, machine learning, or cloud analytics (e.g., AWS Certified Machine Learning, Microsoft Certified Data Scientist).</li><li>Experience with cloud-based analytics platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).</li><li>Proficiency in Python or R for machine learning and predictive modeling.</li><li>Familiarity with big data technologies such as Snowflake and Databricks.</li><li>Knowledge of AI/ML frameworks and libraries.</li><li>Strong understanding of data visualization tools (e.g., MS Platform Technologies, Power BI, Tableau).</li><li>Experience integrating predictive analytics into business processes for measurable impact.</li><li>Experience developing or deploying Gen AI-based solutions (e.g./ prompt engineering, summarization, text classification, or workflow automation.</li><li>Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.</li></ul>Additional Information<ul><li>This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
