Job Description
As an Operating Room Assistant Technician at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Inc., you will play a crucial role in the surgical process. Under the guidance of Registered Nurses, you will assist with various tasks, including patient care, setup, and transportation. Your responsibilities will involve direct patient interaction, ensuring a sterile environment, and supporting the surgical team's needs. This role is ideal for someone with a strong interest in healthcare and a desire to contribute to a high-functioning surgical team.Responsibilities
- Assist the surgical team during operating procedures, acting as a retractor/heart holder as directed by the Registered Nurse.
- Arrange sterile setups, adjust lighting, and clean the operating room to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.
- Prepare patients' skin prior to surgery, ensuring comfort and readiness for the procedure.
- Assist with patient movement and positioning, following the instructions of the surgical registered nurse.
- Transport patients and equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring timely access to the operating room.
- Collect test specimens as directed, adhering to established procedures for accurate data collection.
- Communicate observations and data to the Clinical Associate, providing valuable insights for patient care.
- Participate in the plan of care, offering support and assistance to patients with personal care needs.
- Maintain a friendly and prompt customer service approach, ensuring confidentiality and respect at all times.
- Work collaboratively with the care team to meet customer needs and support departmental objectives.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent is required, with successful completion of the surgical technician assistant program administered by ARMC.
- BLS certification is mandatory for this role.
- Experience is preferred but not essential, with proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at the time of hire.
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs, with good hand/eye coordination, finger/hand dexterity, and visual and hearing acuity.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with the surgical team and patients.
- Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in patient care and data collection.
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- A compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care, ensuring a positive and supportive experience.
- Willingness to undergo training and skill development to enhance professional growth and stay updated with industry standards.
