Volunteer Services Coordinator

AmeriCorps National members serve the community in direct service and capacity building activities.

What will you do?

The Volunteer Services Coordinator helps recruit, train, schedule and recognize volunteers while growing the volunteer base and advancing individual and group partnerships. Market within the community to recruit new volunteers. Develop new events and opportunities for volunteers to engage with the mission of Habitat for Humanity.

  • Typically serve Tuesday – Saturday to support work on the build site.
  • Recruit and schedule volunteers for construction, office, ReStore, deconstruction, family services and special events opportunities.
  • Assist with all aspects of volunteer management including orientations, maintenance of database, volunteer tracking and follow-up.
  • Work with construction staff to ensure successful volunteer build days – signing volunteers in, providing orientation and safety briefings, helping put away tools with volunteers at the end of the day and ordering necessary volunteer supplies.
  • Develop and/or revise volunteer recruitment, management and recognition tools.
This position will focus on volunteer services aspects of Habitat affiliate operations.

  • Unique projects: At HFHGSLA we believe that all projects are unique. The National Volunteer Services Coordinator will support a variety of initiatives that expand volunteer engagement and strengthen the affiliate's impact throughout the community. The member will coordinate volunteers for all of our programs including but not limited to Construction, STEP, ReStore, operations, and special events. They will ensureeach volunteer experience is well organized, meaningful, and aligned with Habitat for Humanity's mission.
    The member will play a key role in planning and coordinating signature volunteer initiatives, including Corporate Build Days, Women Build, Pride Build Week, Veterans Build, faith-based build opportunities, and National Days of Service.
    They will also develop new volunteer engagement opportunities that encourage year-round participation from individuals, corporations, schools, civic organizations, and faith communities. To strengthen the affiliate's long-term volunteer program, the AmeriCorps member will assist with enhancing volunteer recruitment strategies, improving volunteer orientation and training, maintaining accurate volunteer records, tracking service hours, and implementing volunteer recognition efforts that encourage retention. The member will also help identify and cultivate new community partnerships that expand the affiliate's volunteer network and increase awareness of Habitat's mission.
    Through these initiatives, the National Volunteer Services Coordinator will help build a sustainable volunteer program that increases organizational capacity, strengthens community partnerships, and supports the affiliate's ability to serve more families through affordable homeownership, critical home repairs, and community revitalization.

When will you serve?
Start dates are flexible and based on this location’s availability. Talk to the hiring manager for this position about start dates during your interview process. The start date will be 4-6 weeks from receiving an offer and no earlier than September 2026.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, national or lawful permanent resident at least 18 or older and have a high school diploma or GED.
