Job Summary
ECTC Upward Bound Math &amp; Science program is seeking a part-time, temporary science instructor for its Summer Academy program from June 2 - July 12. The Science instructor will teach a variety of subjects including, but not limited to biology, anatomy and physiology, chemistry, lab science, physics, integrated science.




Job Duties:
• Preparing course plans and materials. • Design grade-appropriate curriculum based on Kentucky state standards of learning. • Incorporate ACT science questions, test prep and hands-on activities into courses. • Incorporating laboratory activities and outdoor study opportunities. • Delivering in-seat courses to high school students grades 9-12. • Evaluating student progress. • Provide tutoring as needed. • Teach two – to three sections Monday-Friday In-Person. 2-3 virtual review sessions. • Attend instructor meetings. 




Minimum Qualifications:
Must have a bachelor’s degree in STEM, education, counseling, or related field, and a minimum of one year of teaching experience. The ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure, and adjust to changing priorities is necessary. Must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes both daytime and evening hours. Must be willing to serve as a chaperone to UBMS students during cultural trip from July 8-11, 2024.&nbsp;

Gateway tutors work with other students in a variety of formats on course content, including help with homework assignments, and preparing for tests and quizzes, with a special concentration on learning the basic skills needed to master course content. It is the goal of the tutor to assist students in developing the learning skills necessary to master the academic subject matter. 
Tutors may work in a variety of ways, including embedded within a class, open walk-in times, and online tutoring. Gateway tutors will also be asked to create and facilitate success workshops covering topics related to their tutoring field dependent on the courses that relate to their subject area.
