Job Description:1.GENERAL POSITION INFORMATIONPosition Name: Teaching Assistant IClassification: Non-Exempt; Non-benefittedFTE: Up to 25 hours per weekCompensation: $27 per hourWork Hours: Varies each term depending on instructional needsSupervisor: Associate DeanLocation: On campus (8000 NE Tillamook St; Portland OR 97213)2.POSITION SUMMARYTeaching assistants (TAs) in the doctor of chiropractic program (DCP) assist faculty in providing lab instruction and/or remediation in a variety of courses. Teaching assistants may also monitor and engage in open laboratory or review sessions. Subject areas may include, but are not limited to, biomechanics, palpation, adjustive technique, physical therapy, rehabilitation, history taking, communication skills, physical exam, orthopedic testing, case management, report of findings, taping/splinting, minor surgery, and report writing.3.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES<ul><li>Observe, assist, demonstrate and offer constructive feedback to students in clinical skills development instructional lab sessions.</li><li>Note: TAs must obtain an Oregon chiropractic license within six months of hire and cannot demonstrate chiropractic adjustments prior to licensure. (60%)</li></ul><ul><li>Reinforce course content and instructions that are being taught by course instructor(s) and refrain from introducing outside concepts.
