The Associate Director of Corporate Tax reports directly to the Director of Corporate Tax.<h5>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</h5>Tax Compliance &amp; Reporting<ul><li>Supervise and review the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns, including premium taxes specific to the insurance industry.</li><li>Lead tax month-end and quarter-end procedures including the income tax provision calculations and reporting under ASC 740 and SSAP 101, premium tax, use tax, and other tax accruals, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations.</li><li>Coordinate with external tax vendors to ensure the efficient execution of multiple tax engagements.</li></ul>Tax Planning &amp; Strategy<ul><li>Implement tax strategies to optimize the company’s overall tax position and mitigate risk.</li><li>Conduct thorough tax research and analysis to support compliance, planning, and strategic decision-making.</li></ul>Regulatory &amp; Audit Support<ul><li>Provide the responses to tax audits and correspondence with auditors and regulatory authorities.</li><li>Monitor and evaluate legislative and regulatory changes, assessing their impact on the organization’s tax position and compliance obligations.</li><li>Ensure adherence to all applicable internal controls, tax laws and regulations, including those specific to insurance industry operations.</li></ul>Leadership &amp; Collaboration<ul><li>Collaborate cross-functionally with internal departments on business initiatives and operations.</li><li>Manage and develop tax team members by providing technical guidance, training, and performance support.</li><li>Support the tax team’s goals and objectives by assisting the Director of Corporate Tax with special projects and ad hoc assignments.</li></ul><h5>Minimum Qualifications</h5><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.</li><li>CPA or IRS Enrolled Agent required.</li><li>7–12 years of tax experience in Life and annuity insurance&nbsp;</li><li>5–7 years of public accounting work experience highly preferred.</li><li>Experience leading and developing teams preferred.</li><li>Experience in preparing and reviewing corporate federal and state income tax returns and insurance premium tax returns required.</li><li>Experience in preparing and reviewing quarterly income tax provision and tax disclosures in accordance with GAAP and statutory accounting rules (ASC 740 and SSAP 101) required.</li><li>Strong knowledge of tax compliance, tax accounting, and insurance-specific tax issues.</li><li>Proficiency in advanced Excel functions and complex formulas required.</li><li>Experience with OneSource Tax Provision and OneSource Income Tax highly preferred.</li><li>Familiarity with GoSystem, Premium Pro, and Lawson a plus.</li><li>Excellent research, analytical, communication, and leadership skills.</li><li>Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while consistently delivering high-quality results.</li></ul><h6>The base compensation range represents the low and high end of the range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to qualifications, skills, competencies, location, and experience.
