Title: Instructor, History – 9/10 month (Term)
POSITION SUMMARY This position is a nine-month faculty position responsible for preparing and delivering quality instruction in History in an equitable environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Teach courses via on-ground, online, hybrid or web-enhanced delivery modes as assigned. This position will be based on the White Bridge Road campus with teaching assignments primarily at the White Bridge. Additional teaching assignments are possible at any campus or site at which NSCC instruction takes place. Within a minimum workweek of 37.5 hours, faculty are expected to teach a minimum of 15 hours and hold in-person and virtual office hours as defined in College Policy. Work with Course Leads, Department Chair, and Dean to ensure consistent and equitable student experiences. Utilize the college’s learning management system to provide accurate and updated course materials to students. Submit updated and accurate syllabi prior to the first day of class. Regularly check NSCC email and departmental mailbox.
Respond to emails/messages within 24 hours, except on the weekend. Complete all required reports such as attendance, Early Alerts, progress reports, grade submissions; administer and return questionnaires and student outcome assessments by the required deadlines. Submit final grades for each semester by the deadline established by the registrar. Provide academic advising to students with an emphasis on retention and success. This is a full-time, academic year, term contract in Computer Information Technology. The position reports to the Dean of Arts, Sciences, &amp; Technologies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach 30 hours (TLE) per academic year in Computer Information Technology, including networking, security, and operating systems, with a focus on CCNA certification preparation. The courses may be delivered using a variety of methods including traditional, online, hybrid and/or two/three-way technology.
• Serve as the Computer Information Technology Program Coordinator.
• Manage and maintain the advisory committee for the program.
• Maintain CIT – Networking programmatic accreditation.
• Promote and assist with DSCC’s eSports team.
• Initial assignment may be one or two of DSCC’s teaching locations, but the official work station assignment may change each semester dependent on demand.
• Ability to teach and manage multiple courses in an individualized setting.
• Teach a range of ages from Dual Enrollment high school students to nontraditional, returning adults.
• Recruit students from area high schools and from the community to make DSCC’s program viable and competitive.
• Flexibility to teach evenings/weekends and/or off-campus courses as needed (requires the use of personal vehicle).
• Practice a learning-centered educational philosophy and redesign courses to include research-based learning strategies including service-learning opportunities, learning communities, critical thinking skills, co-operative learning, and reading across the curriculum.
