Job Summary

The Human Development Institute (HDI) at the University of Kentucky is Kentucky’s Center on Disability.

HDI is seeking an Administrative Research Assistant Pr to join our team and support the Kentucky Alternate Assessment Project.

The Kentucky Alternate Assessment Project (KAAP) manages statewide academic and career-readiness assessments for Kentucky students with significant cognitive disabilities. The project supports compliance with ESSA and IDEA requirements, research-based instruction, and participation in Kentucky’s school accountability system.

The responsibilities of this position include:
  • Technical Editing & Quality Assurance: Edit, proofread, format, and quality-check assessment materials and project resources for accuracy, clarity, accessibility, and compliance.
  • Technical Assistance & Customer Support: Provide technical assistance and support to educators, district personnel, and other stakeholders.
  • Resource and Training Material Development: Develop and maintain user-friendly training materials, guides, FAQs, presentations, and online resources.
  • Assessment Program Support and Documentation: Support
    statewide assessment activities through document preparation,
    tracking, records maintenance, and project documentation.
  • Project Coordination and Other Duties: Coordinate with project
    partners and assist with meetings, scheduled assessment activities, and special projects.


This position will work remotely from a home office and must be available to report to HDI’s Lexington campus location for scheduled project-related work. Advance notice will be provided when practicable. The preferred candidate will reside within commuting distance of Lexington, Kentucky, and have strong writing, editing, customer support, and organizational skills suited to a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
