Job Summary

The Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment is seeking a dynamic and motivated Extension Associate for One Health to help advance innovative outreach and education efforts across Kentucky. This role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of animal, human, and environmental health while supporting impactful Extension programs that serve communities throughout the Commonwealth. The Extension Associate will play a key role in coordinating programs, providing educational resources, and supporting interdisciplinary initiatives that promote the One Health mission through collaboration, outreach, and public engagement.

The Extension Associate reports to the Animal Health Extension Veterinarian/One Health Extension Coordinator and works collaboratively with the One Health Initiative Coordinator, Extension agents, specialists, and other internal and external partners. The position includes regular interaction with Extension personnel and limited interaction with members of the general public.

About the Role


Primary responsibilities include supporting One Health Extension initiatives through the development of educational resources for Extension agents and specialists. This role will develop and organize materials, resources, and tools to support training, meetings, programs, and other organizational activities. Additional duties include maintaining and enhancing One Health Extension resources, coordinating program activities at conferences, meetings, and trade shows, and providing administrative and operational support for Agriculture and Natural Resources Extension activities as needed.

This position calls for a highly organized and creative professional with strong interpersonal skills and technical skills and a passion for collaborative, interdisciplinary work. The ideal candidate will thrive in a team-oriented environment while supporting and advancing Extension’s One Health mission through innovative outreach, educational programming, and strategic efforts.

Employment in this program is contingent upon successful completion of national and state criminal background checks, as well as receipt of a clearance letter from the Cabinet for Health and Family Services confirming no substantiated findings of child abuse or neglect through a review of child abuse and neglect records, in accordance with state law.
