
Director, Communication & Education (Health and Welfare)

The Role
The Director, Communications Management position exists within Fidelity’s Workplace Investing Communication and Education (C and E) business unit. This role leads a team of Communication Managers that are responsible for client consulting, design and execution of Health and Welfare benefits communication and education efforts for plan sponsors. In this role, you will lead, mentor, and inspire a geographically distributed team responsible for the development and delivery of high‑quality communications for Plan Sponsors and Participants across print, and digital channels.
This role requires a people leader who can coach teams on effective project management, quality standards, operational excellence, and consultative partnership with internal and external business partners, including Sales, Client Services, Implementations, and Product teams, to deliver aligned, end-to-end Health and Welfare communication strategies. The role also requires the ability to partner with peers on the leadership team to collaborate on goal setting, prioritization, performance management and shared responsibility for outcomes.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring
Bachelor’s Degree – required or equivalent experience with demonstrated professional achievement.
Proven management experience developing and supporting a diverse range of associates, including career development, performance management and engagement
Communications/Operations/Process Delivery experience is required
Strong leadership, facilitation, influencing, decision-making and team building capabilities
Highly organized and able to prioritize and multi-task in a fast paced, matrix management environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage at all levels of the organization
Strong analytical, problem solving, negotiation and collaboration skills
Experience in health care and employee benefits communications
The Team
C and E provides consulting, content development, and delivery services for business partners, prospects, plan sponsors, and their participants across all market segments. In partnership with external vendors and internal business partners, the Communications Management group crafts and/or delivers participant content via email, print, and online. The department is high volume, fast paced, and prone to seasonal demand requiring creativity and agility to maintain consistent quality and service levels.
Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
