
Director, Military and Veteran Services
Compensation: $92,184.00
The Director of Military & Veteran Services and Military-Connected Students serves as the college's senior leader responsible for the strategy, performance, and outcomes of military-connected student enrollment and success, including veterans, active-duty service members, National Guard and Reserve members, spouses, and dependents. The Director collaborates across Academic Affairs, Enrollment Services, Financial Aid, Advising, Institutional Research, Workforce Development, and Marketing and Communications to align strategy, policy, and resources for military-connected students.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Strategic Leadership & Direction
- Provides strategicleadershipforthecollege'svision,priorities, and outcomes relatedtomilitary-connectedstudents, serving astheinstitutional authority and advisor on military-connected student success.
- Leads the design, execution, and continuous refinement of a comprehensive, multi-year strategic framework for military-connectedstudents that integrates StrategicEnrollmentManagement(SEM),studentsuccess,compliance,and workforce alignment.
- EmbedsSEMprinciples,includingmarketanalysis,recruitment pipelines, yieldstrategies,onboarding, retention,persistence, completion, andpost-completionoutcomeswithinbroaderinstitutional strategyratherthanasa standalone function. Contributes tocollege-wide student success, equity, and enrollment initiatives with a military-connectedstudent lens.
Operational Leadership
- Providesleadershipandoversightforallmilitaryandveteranservices, including orientation, advising coordination, benefits certification support, transition assistance, academic and career navigation, and referral to campus and community resources.
- Ensures programs and services are trauma-informed,culturally responsive, and aligned with best practices for serving military-connected learners. Develops and scales engagement opportunitiesthatfosterbelonging,connection,andleadershipdevelopment among military-connectedstudents. Oversees the operation and strategic use of any designated veterans or military-connectedstudent spaces.
- LeadsandmanagestheTransferStudentSuccessteamthatspecializes in student advising, resource development, and program implementation related totransfer aswell asthe Weiler Scholars, specifically. Leads the operations of the Transfer Center.
- Ensures institutional compliance with allapplicable federal, state, andVA educationbenefitregulations,includingGIBillprogramsandstatemilitary education benefits. Monitors regulatory changes and assess institutional impacts; recommends policy, process, and system updates as needed.
- Provides leadership, supervision, coaching, and professional development for staff supporting military-connected students. Develops and manages budgets, grants, and external funding related tomilitary and veteran services.Identifiesandpursuesexternalfundingopportunities,partnerships, and grants that advance military-connectedstudent success.
Partnerships & Collaboration
- PartnerswithMarketingandCommunicationstodevelop targeted,multi-channeloutreachandrecruitmentstrategiesformilitary-connectedstudents. Builds and maintains relationships with military installations,National GuardandReserveunits,veteranserviceorganizations,workforce partners, andcommunity-basedagencies. Represents thecollege atmilitary, veteran, and community events to promote educational pathways and services.
- CollaborateswithWorkforce Development andAcademic Affairstoalign military-connectedstudentrecruitmentwithhigh-demandcareerpathways and credit-for-prior-learning opportunities.
- ServesasakeypartnertoFinancialAid,Enrollment Services, andRecords toensure accurate, timely, andstudent-centeredcertification and reporting processes.
- Serves as the institutional advocate for military-connectedstudents, ensuring theirneedsareintegrated intocollege-wide policies, initiatives, andtechnologyimplementations.Collaborateswithadvising,counseling, disabilityservices,basicneedssupport, andacademic unitstocoordinate holistic, wraparound support.

Assessment, Reporting, & Continuous Improvement
- Leadsassessmenteffortsformilitaryandveteranservices,includingstudent feedback, service utilization, and outcome evaluation. Prepares reports, presentations,andbriefingsforexecutiveleadership,governancebodies, and external stakeholders. Uses evidence-basedpractices and national benchmarks to inform program design and improvement.

Minimum Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in higher education or a related field. Demonstrated experience serving military-connected students and working with VA or military education benefits.
- State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).
- *An appropriate combination of education, training, coursework, and experience may qualify a candidate.
