The U.S. Consumer Services and Membership Digital Experiences Technology team (USCDT) brings together foundational strategic technology capabilities in digital experience engineering (Mobile and Web), marketing and advertising technology, enterprise communications, travel and lifestyle, and dining technology. It employs a ground-breaking focus with development responsibilities for customer-facing capabilities that deepen and expand digital engagement, as well as core technical capabilities that cut across business lines and customer
segments. ​

Within US Consumer & Digital Technology, the Cross Platform Delivery organization enables the successful delivery of approximately 45 enterprise-wide initiatives spanning technology, product, and business organizations. Our mission is to orchestrate complex delivery across platforms, improve release confidence, accelerate decision making, and provide executive visibility into enterprise execution.

As part of our future-state operating model, we are establishing a new Delivery Intelligence & Automation Office to transform how delivery is managed across the enterprise. This organization will leverage AI, automation, predictive analytics, and delivery intelligence to reduce operational overhead, improve organizational efficiency, and enable our delivery leaders to focus on strategic execution.

This Technology delivery leadership position is responsible for critical initiative planning and execution in support of US Consumer Services and Digital Technology business strategies within a large-scale Agile environment.

In this role, you will execute highly complex and company-wide, end to end (E2E) technology delivery for American Express. These initiatives are often comprised of multiple products, and you will plan, direct, and deliver these strategic programs from initiation through implementation. You will partner with multi-functional product teams, business owners, engineering teams and external organizations to interpret objectives into features and solutions, drive delivery processes and execution, remove impediments, manage risk, and promote continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Leads teams and supports product engineering in a scaled agile environment delivering very large business solutions or programs
  • Serves as the main point of technology contact from initiative inception to delivery
  • For the portfolio supported, works with business leaders and senior-level architects to help shape the strategy for value stream delivery
  • Leads a methodology driven quality plan in terms of delivery, features and schedule
  • Proactively identifies technical delivery and portfolio level risks and implements mitigations.
  • Establishes and maintains good relationships with product management, architecture, engineering, production operations, and external technology partners ensuring cohesive plans and regular communication of delivery progress
  • Works with technology operations to ensure quality and performance of production releases
  • Proficiency building impactful relationships quickly, and ability to communicate at senior leadership levels.
  • Ability to influence without direct authority and thrive in ambiguous situations.
  • Strong bias for action and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Contributes to the investment decision process through innovative ideas, input to sequencing, and highlighting other technology delivery considerations.
  • Responsible for people leadership and management

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or other technical discipline, or equivalent work experience required; advanced degree preferred
  • 8+ years of experience leading enterprise-wide large scale, complex projects that involve both Business and Technology partners.
  • Previous experience with the integration of third-party vendor SaaS/PaaS solutions
  • Possess a high degree of technical savvy, with a keen ability to learn new technology quickly and easily
  • Experience within financial services or other highly regulated industries.
  • Demonstrated success building new organizational capabilities or leading enterprise transformation initiatives.
  • Experience working with stakeholders to bring alignment and build consensus

Salary range

  • $123,000 - $215,250 per year
