This is an exceptional opportunity to lead a growing and mission-driven division within Kentucky’s flagship academic medical center and the region’s leading tertiary and quaternary referral center for high-risk obstetric care. The University of Kentucky Maternal-Fetal Medicine Division serves patients throughout the Commonwealth and Appalachia through an extensive clinical network, innovative telemedicine programs, multidisciplinary fetal care services, and nationally recognized educational and research initiatives.

The Division Director will provide strategic leadership for clinical care, research, education, faculty development, and regional outreach while advancing the department’s mission to improve the health of women and families across Kentucky and beyond.

The Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine is distinguished by several unique strengths, including:

  • A strong multidisciplinary diabetes in pregnancy program with close collaboration across maternal-fetal medicine, endocrinology, nutrition, and diabetes education
  • Comprehensive genetics and fetal care services, including advanced fetal imaging, fetal MRI access, and multidisciplinary coordination with pediatric subspecialists
  • An ACGME-accredited Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship program approved to train four fellows, with a strong commitment to developing the next generation of academic and clinical leaders in Maternal-Fetal Medicine
  • A robust academic environment with active clinical, translational, epidemiologic, and basic science research programs focused on preterm birth prevention, substance use disorders, developmental programming, maternal health, and environmental exposures
  • Strong institutional support for quality improvement, patient safety, faculty mentorship, and academic advancement

The division performs more than 12,000 ultrasound and Doppler examinations annually across approximately 15 clinical sites throughout Kentucky and maintains a broad regional referral network with expanding outreach capabilities. Faculty collaborate extensively across the College of Medicine, including partnerships in neonatology, immunology, epidemiology, genetics, and population health research.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative department experiencing continued growth in clinical programs, education, and scholarly activity under dynamic departmental leadership. Candidates should possess a demonstrated commitment to excellence in patient care, mentorship, leadership, and academic medicine.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide visionary leadership for the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine
  • Advance clinical, educational, and research excellence across the division
  • Mentor faculty, fellows, residents, and medical students

  • Foster multidisciplinary collaboration and programmatic growth
  • Lead faculty recruitment, retention, and professional development
  • Promote innovation in quality, safety, and patient-centered care
