Position Summary: This is a PRN position. The Histology Sr. Technician will lead and operate all functions of a growing Histology Lab. Will be directly responsible for all aspects of the lab.

Essential Job Functions: Prepares sections of human tissue for examination, using processing technique to cut, mount, and stain tissue specimens. Prepares slides or specimens, using special cutting and specified stain, to enhance visibility under microscope. Operates equipment to fix, dehydrate, and infiltrate with wax, tissue specimens to be preserved for study by pathologist; maintains and troubleshoots delicate electronic histologic equipment. Performs computerized data entry of all work performed and generates reports as required. Maintains all histologic manuals in the laboratory; recommends and develops new services, projects, and procedures. Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards. As qualified per CLIA regulations, will function as grossing technician. Attends meetings as required. Other duties and assignments as needed

Qualifications: High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified preferred. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. As applicable, and per CLIA regulations, completion of necessary coursework and/or degree, etc. As qualified per CLIA regulations, must be able to perform Grossing functions.
