Job Description
As part of the Deposit Onboarding First Party Fraud and Initial Limits team, you will join a team of skilled risk managers who are responsible for the First Party Fraud control strategiesfor all deposit products. In this role, the incumbent will own the initial limits strategy for AENB’s deposit products, which is both a key determinant for banking product growth and a critical control for mitigating first party fraud losses. The incumbent will drive a robust limit management framework, determine initial limits, and oversee strategy performance; all while balancing enterprise risk appetite, regulatory guidelines, and sustained deposit portfolio growth.
The successful candidate will need to work with various business partners in Product, Decision sciences, Capabilities, CBO Risk and Banking to execute multiple key initiatives. To succeed in the role, the incumbent needs to have a very good blend of analytical skills, team, and partner management skills.
The successful candidate will need to partner closely with Product, Compliance, Operational Excellence, Enterprise Banking Services, and other stakeholder teams to execute multiple key initiatives in this domain.
Responsibilities
Drive the end-to-end risk strategies for limit assignment on deposit products.
Support development of a robust cross-BU limit management framework, which will balance deposit customer behavior, regulatory expectations, portfolio growth, and the banking organization’s risk appetite.
Utilize data and analytics to make line assignment recommendations for different banking customer segments.
Design line assignments with analytical methods that minimize first party fraud losses while also balancing deposit portfolio profitability.
Own KRI development, threshold definitions, and monitoring for deposit limits.
Perform case reviews and root-case analysis in the case of OREs, CAPs, and fraud events related to deposit product limit assignment.
Participate in risk assessments, control gap identification, and remediation plans for deposit products.
Partner cross-functionally (Product, Credit, Tech, Compliance) to execute and scale limit strategies.
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in risk management or risk and control environments.
2+ years of experience working with data and demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong technical acumen; experience with tools such as SQL, Python, Hive, Big Data platforms, and automation is a plus.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
Ability to solve problems in ambiguous, unstructured environments using both qualitative and quantitative approaches.
Ability to build strong relationships, communicate effectively and lead through influence.
Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to track information and bring structure and clarity to evolving problem spaces.
Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt to changing circumstances in a fast-paced environment with a will to win.
Preferred Qualifications
Fraud risk or checking product risk management experience.
Line or limit assignment experience.
Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
Salary range
- $89,250 - $150,250 per year
