Physical Requirements

This position requires intermittently sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time; and performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing); and occasionally standing or walking with objects weighing up to 10 pounds; and lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Also involves some exposure to risk of injury from moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment, or materials; and exposure to hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, cuts/punctures, and blood-borne or airborne pathogens.

Shift

Primarily Mon-Fri, typically 8am – 4:30pm; some weekend and/or holidays per departmental need.

Job Summary

UK HealthCare is seeking a highly motivated pharmacist for this hematology/oncology clinical pharmacist position. The clinical pharmacist will provide comprehensive, patient-centered pharmacotherapy primarily on inpatient hematology/oncology service lines. Services include but are not limited to interdisciplinary team rounding, treatment regimen clinical review, therapeutic drug monitoring, and patient education. This pharmacist will also provide educational services to pharmacy students and residents, pharmacists, physicians, and nurses through avenues such as precepting and in-service presentations. This pharmacist will be expected to contribute to the scholarly productivity of the enterprise through clinical research, quality improvement, etc., uphold UK Healthcare core values, and maintain effective teamwork with pharmacists, residents, technicians, interns, physicians, nurses, allied health staff, and others. The ideal candidate will have graduated from an ACPE-accredited school/college of pharmacy, completed an ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency (or equivalent experience), and must be eligible for licensure in Kentucky.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Strong clinical skills; knowledge of inpatient drug distribution and dispensing; ability to prioritize; excellent communication skills; team mentality; desire to teach; and motivation are required to excel in this position.

Preferred Education/Experience

PharmD degree, preferred. ASHP PGY1 residency and/or PGY2 specialty residency preferred.
