Position Purpose
The Robot Technician is responsible for programming, setting, and optimizing robotic welding and automation equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role supports daily manufacturing operations by minimizing downtime, improving cycle times, and maintaining process stability. The position also drives continuous improvement initiatives, supports new product introductions.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities
Robot Programming & Automation
- Develop, modify, and optimize robot programs to support production requirements.
- Perform robot setup, programming, teaching, touch-ups, and application adjustments for new and existing products.
- Manage product changeovers and ensure proper program configuration and selection.
- Support the implementation of robotic automation improvements across manufacturing operations.
Production Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide hands-on technical support for robotic welding and automated manufacturing cells.
- Diagnose and resolve robot, tooling, equipment, and process-related issues to minimize downtime.
- Support production teams in achieving daily output, cycle time, and efficiency targets.
- Collaborate with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to ensure uninterrupted production.
Process Improvement & Optimization
- Continuously improve robotic programs and manufacturing processes to enhance productivity and efficiency.
- Optimize welding parameters, robot paths, sequence logic, and cell performance to reduce cycle times and improve quality.
- Support Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to increase automation effectiveness and process reliability.
Quality & Process Control
- Ensure robotic processes consistently meet customer specifications and company quality standards.
- Verify weld quality, dimensional accuracy, and process repeatability.
- Investigate quality concerns, non-conformances, and defects, implementing corrective and preventive actions as required.
- Support root cause analysis and continuous quality improvement efforts.
Equipment Reliability & Maintenance Support
- Perform routine robot inspections, TCP verification, calibration, and system health checks.
- Assist maintenance teams in diagnosing equipment failures and implementing corrective actions.
- Monitor robot, tooling, and automation system performance to prevent unplanned downtime.
- Support preventive and predictive maintenance activities.
New Product Introduction (NPI)
- Support new product launches through robot programming, process development, and validation activities.
- Participate in trial runs, process capability studies, and production readiness reviews.
- Assist with fixture, tooling, and automation validation to ensure successful program launches.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth implementation of new manufacturing processes.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure robotic systems operate in accordance with company safety standards, policies, and procedures.
- Verify the functionality of safety devices, interlocks, guarding systems, and operational controls.
- Promote a culture of safety and proactively identify and report hazards.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable regulatory and company requirements.
Documentation & Training
- Maintain robot programs, setup sheets, work instructions, process documentation, and revision records.
- Train operators and technicians on robot operation, setup procedures, and basic troubleshooting techniques.
- Support standardization efforts and the sharing of best practices across manufacturing teams.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of technical documentation and training materials.

Minimum Qualifications
- Diploma, associate degree Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Robotics, Automation, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in robotic welding, automation, or robotic manufacturing environments.
- Must pass any drug screens, background checks, and any pre-employment tests, which will be conducted in accordance with applicable law.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in robot programming or operation (FANUC, KUKA, etc.).
- Experience with robotic welding cells for heavy fabrication or structural steel components.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and process validation activities
