Job Description

Membership Portfolio Services, within our US Consumer Services Business, is responsible for developing and scaling several growing businesses that are strategically important to American Express. We are developing unique and differentiated ways to strengthen the Membership Model by connecting Card Members with Merchants that create opportunities to help drive our growth over the mid-to-long term.

How will you make an impact in this role?

The role will report to the Director, Product Line Strategy & Partnerships and serve as the strategic lead responsible for defining the long-term direction of Amex Offers. This leader will own the Product Line Strategy process end-to-end, translating market insights, customer needs, competitive insights, and business priorities into a clear strategic roadmap for future growth.

Working closely with Sales, Marketing Operations, Analytics, Product Development, Engineering, Finance, and Enterprise stakeholders, this role will help shape the evolution of Amex Offers as a differentiated marketing platform for merchants and a compelling benefit for Card Members.

Responsibilities

Product Line Strategy

  • Own the Amex Offers Product Line Strategy process end-to-end, defining the long-term vision, value proposition, and strategic roadmap
  • Assess merchant needs, Card Member behaviors, competitive trends, and emerging industry developments to identify growth opportunities for Amex Offers
  • Develop strategic recommendations and executive-ready narratives that influence product investments and business priorities
  • Influence cross-functional stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Sales, Analytics, Marketing Operations, and Finance to align on strategic priorities and execution
  • Define and monitor strategic KPIs to measure business performance, merchant and Card Member value, and long-term growth opportunities
  • Own the Product Line Strategy operating cadence, including annual strategy development, capability assessments, roadmap refreshes, and executive reviews

Strategic Planning

  • Monitor competitive trends, emerging technologies, and adjacent industry developments to identify opportunities and inform long-term product strategy
  • Develop market assessments, business cases and investment recommendations for new capabilities and growth opportunities
  • Lead cross-functional strategic initiatives from concept through execution, ensuring alignment across business, product, and technology stakeholders
  • Simplify complex business challenges into actionable recommendations that balance long-term vision with near-term execution

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in product strategy, management consulting, corporate strategy, or related strategic roles, preferably within digital advertising, loyalty, payments, retail media, marketing technology, or platform ecosystems
  • Demonstrated experience developing product strategies or strategic roadmaps that influence business growth and long-term investment decisions
  • Proven ability to synthesize qualitative and quantitative insights into strategic recommendations that influence business decisions
  • Strong quantitative skills that enable the analysis of KPIs and generation of actionable recommendations with measurable business value
  • Proven ability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives while influencing stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Sales, Analytics, Finance, Marketing Operations, and other business functions
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple strategic initiatives, balance competing priorities, and drive execution in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, adapt quickly, and make sound decisions in a dynamic environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing product strategies for digital platforms, digital advertising, retail media, loyalty, payments, or marketplace businesses.
  • Strong executive communication and storytelling skills including experience developing executive-level strategy presentations
  • Experience partnering closely with Product Development and Engineering organizations to translate strategic priorities into product investments
  • Curiosity and a customer-first mindset, with an interest in building products that create value for merchants, Card Members, and American Express
