This exciting and critical position will be responsible for evaluating victim and first party fraud risk by designing key fraud risk servicing strategies to improve customer experience and reduce enterprise risk exposure from first party fraud. This role will also interact with multiple enterprise partners including Risk, Global Servicing, EDMX, Enterprise Digital, Technology.
Responsibilities
- Within the Global Fraud and Banking Risk organization, the Suspect Claims team is responsible for leading bogus fraud claim detection and rejection initiatives. The successful candidate will provide thought leadership for the bogus fraud transaction identification and rebill process, which leverages Amex’s unique closed loop and big data capabilities.
- In this role, you will collaborate with Risk and other enterprise teams to build efficient strategies, reducing the losses due to bogus claims by identifying data signals to accurately distinguish bogus and fraud transactions. You will work in a highly dynamic and exciting environment and will have the opportunity to shape strategies and policies for American Express Card and Non-Card products as it relates to bogus claims. You will be part of a high performing team and play an influential role working closely with partners in other Risk teams, Global Servicing Network, Legal/Compliance, and Technologies to create world-class strategies and capabilities.
- The role expects highly analytical and commercially minded fraud strategist to lead our approach to agentic commerce disputes, and the role expects to identify, investigate, and resolve those risks.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in analytics, fraud strategy, disputes, payments risk, or a closely related field is preferred
- Meaningful experience with the end-to-end dispute lifecycle, including intake, investigation is preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex findings to technical, operational, compliance, and executive audiences.
- Strong cross-functional leadership and the ability to influence teams without direct authority.
- Demonstrated ability to translate analysis into production rules, policies, product requirements, or operational changes.
- Good understanding of fraud typologies, including account takeover, unauthorized transactions, scams, first-party misuse, refund abuse, merchant fraud, and synthetic identity.
- Advanced, hands-on SQL skills and experience analyzing large transactional datasets; Fluence with data processing languages and tools such as SQL, SAS, Hive.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-changing environment, with a strong attention to detail, communicate effectively and work well in a cross-functional environment.
- Post Graduate Degree in Economics, Statistics, Computer science, Mathematics, Finance, Operations Research, Engineering, Science, or in related advanced quantitative fields is preferred.

The below represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we’ll consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
Salary range
- $103,750 - $174,750 per year
