The Network Agentic Commerce team is responsible for defining and enabling the future of Agentic Commerce across the American Express Global Network. As AI-driven agents, digital wallets, and autonomous commerce experiences evolve, we are shaping how the Network supports secure, scalable, and commercially compelling agent-based transactions.

The Vice President, Agentic Commerce Strategy & Go to Market will lead the strategic, commercial, and go-to-market agenda for Network Agentic Commerce. This leader will shape American Express's position in the rapidly evolving agentic ecosystem, drive industry and strategic partner engagement, define commercial strategies, and establish the governance, risk management, and operational frameworks required to bring new capabilities to market and scale adoption.

Reporting to the Vice President, Network Agentic Commerce, this leader will manage a team of Directors across Strategy & Insights and Go to Market, with accountability for translating emerging industry opportunities into actionable business strategies and driving enterprise readiness for commercialization. The role will partner closely with Product Management, Technology, Risk, Legal, Compliance, and existing partner relationship owners to align commercial priorities, navigate enterprise dependencies, and drive execution. The successful candidate will be a forward-looking, commercially minded leader with deep payments expertise, strong risk management acumen, and demonstrated experience influencing senior stakeholders and leading teams through ambiguity.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the multi-year business and commercial strategy for Network Agentic Commerce, identifying opportunities to drive adoption, network relevance, competitive differentiation, and growth.

  • Oversee industry and competitive intelligence across AI platforms, payment networks, digital wallets, processors, emerging protocols, and standards bodies, translating market developments into actionable strategic recommendations.

  • Define commercial strategies, including pricing frameworks, partnership models, business cases, and investment recommendations to support the scaling of Agentic Commerce capabilities.

  • Lead Agentic Commerce ecosystem engagement and partner prioritization, working alongside existing relationship owners to advance strategic partnerships, commercial opportunities, and adoption.

  • Own go-to-market strategy and business execution, establishing scalable frameworks for partner onboarding, operational readiness, enterprise education, and ongoing adoption.

  • Drive enterprise governance, risk assessments, mitigation planning, and required approvals in partnership with Risk, Compliance, Legal, Control Management, and other key stakeholders.

  • Oversee business program management across strategic, commercial, and operational workstreams, ensuring clear priorities, milestones, dependencies, and accountability for execution.

  • Partner closely with Product Management to ensure industry insights, partner requirements, commercial considerations, and risk priorities inform product strategy and roadmaps.

  • Build alignment across Product, Issuing, Acquiring, Finance, Risk, Legal, Compliance, and regional teams, translating complex strategic and operational considerations into clear executive recommendations.

  • Establish performance measures to track partner adoption, commercial outcomes, operational effectiveness, and strategic progress, providing regular updates to senior leadership.

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team across Strategy & Insights and Go to Market, fostering strategic thinking, commercial discipline, and execution excellence.

Qualifications

  • Extensive strategy, commercial, or business leadership experience in payments, financial services, digital commerce, or technology, with a strong record of shaping strategy and delivering business outcomes.

  • Deep understanding of the global payments ecosystem, including payment networks, digital wallets, tokenization, authentication, and emerging commerce models.

  • Demonstrated experience developing commercial strategies, managing strategic partner engagement, and translating industry developments into actionable business priorities.

  • Experience leading go-to-market initiatives, enterprise governance, risk management coordination, and operational readiness within complex, regulated organizations.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive urgency, accelerate execution, and deliver results in rapidly evolving environments while proactively identifying, assessing, and managing risk.

  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including pricing strategy, business case development, partnership economics, and investment prioritization.

  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders, navigate complex enterprise dependencies, and drive cross-functional outcomes across Product, Risk, Legal, and business teams.

  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing high-performing teams, establishing clear accountability, and delivering results through direct leadership and influence.
