ResponsibilitiesHowmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a Tooling Specialist V, Machine Build in our Fullerton, CA&nbsp;location.&nbsp;Duties and Responsibilities:&nbsp;<ul> <li>Fabricate and assemble all tooling pertaining to custom machine automation including tooling prints, production prints.&nbsp;</li> <li>Must be able to set up/operate all tool room type machinery. • Diagnose causes of malfunctions in machines, equipment, and related mechanisms.&nbsp;</li> <li>Identify, broken, worn or otherwise defective parts, assembly, tooling, and fixtures, and determine whether they can and/or should be repaired, rebuilt, or replaced.</li> <li>Participate with engineers an manufacturing management in designing modifications to machines and equipment &nbsp;</li> <li>Determine type, configuration, dimensions, quantity, quality, and/other characteristics of materials and parts required for repairing, rebuilding and/or modifying machines, equipment&nbsp;</li> <li>Describe materials, configurations, dimensions, specifications, and/or procedures required for fabricating and/or machining and/or treat heating and finishing parts, tools, fixtures, etc, by writing specifications and making sketches and shop drawings&nbsp;</li> <li>Determine whether parts, tooling, and fixtures can or should be repaired, rebuilt, or fabricated in-house, or whether services or items should be obtained from outside sources.&nbsp;</li> <li>Request materials, tooling, and equipment as needed.&nbsp;</li> <li>Lay out materials, and set-up and operate various machine shop machines and equipment to perform the difficult fabrication and machining of precision parts, tooling, fixtures.&nbsp;</li> <li>Provide less qualified machinists with specifications, instructions, and guidance, as required, for performing less difficult fabrication and machining of parts, tooling, fixtures, etc;&nbsp;</li> <li>Inspect repaired, rebuilt, and new parts, assemblies, tooling, fixtures, etc., to ensure conformity to specifications.&nbsp;</li> <li>Trouble-shoot and solve problems of the most advanced level&nbsp;</li> <li>Consistently Identifies potential improvements, e.g. decrease run-time, increase tool life, etc. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</li> <li>Able to complete one off jobs to exacting tolerances without direct supervision &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</li> <li>Needs to be team driven and meet goals set for the department</li></ul>QualificationsBasic Qualifications:<ul> <li>Five to seven years of experience in set up operation of five die Nut formers or equivalent previous experience with a fastener manufacturing company.</li> <li>Ability to read and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to complete routine documentation.&nbsp; Ability to speak clearly and effectively with managers, supervisors and coworkers.&nbsp;</li> <li>Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.&nbsp;Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.</li> <li>Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.&nbsp;Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.</li> <li>Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.&nbsp;</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications:<ul> <li>&nbsp;High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred; and Ability to trouble-shoot and solve problems of the most advanced level.
