The Sergeant serves as first line supervisor, under the direction of the Chief of Campus Police. Job Duties:

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Must be at least 21 years of age. Three years of experience as a police officer with a satisfactory service rating by a superior. Graduate of an accredited, approved police academy and be a certified police officer meeting all the requirements for P.O.S.T certification in Tennessee. Meet the requirements of TCA 38-8-106 and TCA 38-8-107 Qualifications of Police Officers. Out-of-state applicants are required to meet Tennessee P.O.S.T certification requirements within six (6) months of hire. Prior law enforcement experience as a full-time certified officer must be within the past three (3) years. Must have not been convicted of or pleaded guilty to or entered a plea of nolo contendere to any felony charge or to any violation of any federal or state laws or city ordinances relating to force, violence, theft, dishonesty, gambling, liquor, or controlled substances. Possess a valid Tennessee driver’s license. Out-of-state applicants must obtain a Tennessee driver’s license within thirty (30) days of hire. Pass a thorough background investigation.
