The candidate will work closely within an interdisciplinary team comprising geneticists, engineers, biochemists, and microscopy experts, receiving direct mentorship and guidance from senior lab members. We are particularly interested in candidates with hands-on experience with structural variant analysis (including point mutations and chromosomal rearrangements) and a strong understanding of the interpretation and analysis of genomic variant data (e.g., VCF files).Specific Responsibilities:The candidate will assist in addressing key questions in genetics, focusing on the role of sequence conservation in maintaining genome integrity. Job Description Our laboratory studies breast and ovarian cancer, striving to discover the mechanisms behind disease initiation, progression and drug resistance. We are seeking a highly motivated Bioinformaticist with knowledge in computational image analysis and proficiency in Python. In this position, you will be supervised by our image analysis expert and will work together with members of the lab who are performing cyclic immunofluorescence (CyCIF) experiments. These experiments aim to better understand the earliest changes in the initiation of tumorigenesis as well as the heterogeneity of cell states and their spatial distribution within a tumor. CyCIF is applied to tissues from a diverse set of sources, including genetically engineered mice, patient-derived xenografts propagated in mice, tumor cell line xenografts, and patient samples. As a Bioinformaticist, your primary responsibility will be analyzing fluorescent imaging data to quantify the levels of protein expression in individual cells and ‘cell neighborhoods’. This will involve identifying the appropriate single cell segmentation approaches for each tissue type and apply them iteratively to acquire fluorescence signal intensities that can be used to perform spatial analyses. You will interpret initial results and carry out follow-up analyses, developing the necessary approaches and writing code for their execution, and training other RAs on the project in using developed code for new approaches for segmentation and analysis. You will communicate findings to the lead investigator of each project and, through collaborative discussions, determine which additional analyses need to be performed. This position provides an opportunity to make significant contributions to many projects in our lab.Technical Duties and Responsibilities<ul><li>Carry out image processing from tissue or tumor sections by registering and stitching images acquired on a Rarecyte microscope using a Python-based script as well as other approaches as they are developed.&nbsp;</li><li>Perform fluorescent image processing, quality control, and cell segmentation using multiple approaches: identify appropriate single cell segmentation approaches for each tissue type and apply them iteratively, checking accuracy to obtain single cell data.</li><li>Design, develop and test computational methods and displays to identify correlations between proteins expressed in single cells, to identify changes in protein expression in cells from tissues of women at high risk for cancer, and to identify differences in tumor responses to cancer therapies.&nbsp;</li><li>Using biological knowledge, identify candidate cell neighborhoods to define using cellular protein expression, then implement appropriate computational approaches to define these neighborhoods (e.g., Latent-Dirichlet Algorithm, network analysis, etc.).</li><li>Work with scRNASeq and spatial transcriptomics datasets, including probing gene signature expression and comparing expression between groups using correct statistical models (e.g., Linear Mixed Model, Bayesian).&nbsp;</li><li>Interpret initial results and carry out follow-up analyses, developing the necessary approaches and writing code for their execution; work with biologists on data analysis and with other bioinformaticists on the team to strategize computational approaches to execute follow-up analyses.&nbsp;</li><li>Communicate findings with project collaborators, and prepare figures and materials for presentations as needed.</li><li>Lead and train biologists and RAs on computational tools developed for segmentation and analysis.&nbsp;</li></ul> Qualifications Basic Qualifications: <ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences or other related field required.</li><li>3+ years’ experience in the area of bioinformatics.&nbsp;</li></ul>

Additionally, the technician will be trained to conduct animal-related tasks, including handling, genotyping, and phenotyping mice.In addition to animal care, the Research Technician manages general laboratory operations. This includes ordering, receiving, and organizing supplies, preparing common reagents and buffers, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of workspaces such as culture and surgical rooms. The technician is also responsible for inventory management, such as antibody stocks and liquid nitrogen tanks, ensuring regular maintenance of lab equipment, and assisting colleagues with experiments when extra help is required.The Technician is also involved in key scientific activities, including tissue culture, live cell imaging, immunohistology staining, and flow cytometry analysis. They will receive training in surgical procedures, in vivo models, and data analysis, contributing to the overall research goals of the lab. Additional miscellaneous duties may be assigned as needed to ensure smooth lab operations.

Led by faculty director, Professor Jorrit de Jong, the research team advances knowledge on solving urban problems through effective public management, leadership, and collaborative governance—generating evidence on how to strengthen the capacity of cities and their leaders to improve residents’ quality of life. The Senior Research Associate, reporting to Senior Director of Research, Dr. Quinton Mayne, will take a leading role in co-designing and executing studies aligned with this research agenda, building a field of study at the intersection of organizational behavior, public management, and urban studies, and producing research that generates actionable insights for practitioners and high-impact academic publications.&nbsp; 
Responsibilities: <ul><li>Co-lead research within a collaborative team: shape questions, design studies, and plan analytic strategies.&nbsp;</li><li>Implement research, including – where necessary – instrument design, power analysis, pre-registration, and programming and execution of online surveys and experiments.&nbsp;</li><li>Manage additional research activities, including recruitment and supervision of student research assistants.&nbsp;</li><li>Develop and maintain research administration and compliance documentation, including IRB protocols, data-use agreements, and data security procedures.&nbsp;</li><li>Support data cleaning and conduct statistical and econometric analyses.&nbsp;</li><li>Manage relations with research-relevant external stakeholders, including survey vendors and partner cities.&nbsp;</li><li>Draft, revise, and prepare academic manuscripts for publication.&nbsp;</li><li>Travel, as needed, for data collection and presentation of work and findings (at conferences, workshops, etc.).&nbsp;</li></ul>Application Instructions &amp; Review Process:A complete application requires a CV, at least 1 writing sample, and contact information for at least 2 references.&nbsp; The CV should be uploaded to the "Resume" field on the first page of the application and writing samples, references should be uploaded to the "Additional Documents" fields on the second page of the application.
