<h2>Job Purpose</h2>
The Advising, Student Success &amp; Retention Technology Specialist serves as the primary point of contact for technology integration, data collection, and analysis within the advising department. The position supports student success and retention through data-informed strategies, effective use of advising technologies, and direct student engagement. The incumbent monitors all Charger Center computer labs, ensuring hardware and software functionality, and serves as liaison between the advising staff and the Information Technology (IT) department. The Specialist also maintains a student advising caseload, provides leadership and supervision for student workers, manages departmental communications, and leads the use and optimization of case management and student success software tools. The selected candidate will provide technical leadership on a globally distributed team using a Mainframe technology stack. This role demands significant collaboration with members of various business and IT groups throughout the lifecycle of a typical problem or request. Stock Plan Services administers equity compensation programs on behalf of public and private companies offering various compensations programs such as: Employee Stock Purchase Plans, Restricted Stock Awards/Units, Stock Option Plans, Stock Appreciation Rights and Performance based Awards. Currently SPS services over 1.6M participants employed by over 300 clients and spread out in 150 countries. The business is looking to further expand in the international equity compensation market, focused initially on western European countries and companies based there. The work is diverse, challenging, and provides for continuous learning and growth opportunities. <h3>The Expertise and Skills You Bring</h3> <ul> <li>8+ years of software development experience with large mainframe-based systems.</li> <li>BS/BA or advanced degree, or equivalent experience preferred.</li> <li>Solid hands-on development skills in mainframe languages and technologies (Cobol, CICS, VSAM, JCL, utilities, FileAid, Endevor, debuggers, schedulers, etc.).</li> <li>Proficiency with the DB2 database management system and database processing concepts.</li> <li>Knowledge of native stored procedures is a plus.</li> <li>Deploy and support software releases into production environments.</li> <li>Strong knowledge of and experience with the overall testing process.</li> <li>Any knowledge or experience in distributed technologies, cloud computing, and/or Java programming is a plus.</li> <li>Ability to work with business partners to help define requirements and solutions.</li> <li>Provide estimates and scoping for proposed projects.</li> <li>Ability to perform detailed analysis for maintenance and enhancement projects, both batch and online.</li> <li>Proven and strong interpersonal and organizational skills coupled with effective written communication skills.</li> <li>Confidence to think and act strategically, share innovative insights, and offer creative solutions to deliver exceptional user experiences.</li> <li>Embrace flexibility and shift focus to meet the most pressing customer/client needs.</li> <li>You bring a growth mentality to work every day as you continue to learn new applications and technologies and are willing to share that knowledge with your fellow squad members.</li> </ul> <h3>The Skills You Bring</h3> <ul> <li>Your Demonstrated Expertise ('DE') in defining, developing, and leading an interactive team to implement scalable application solutions</li> <li>Your DE in mainframe application development, automation, and support, utilizing COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, VSAM, MQ-Series, and SQL</li> <li>Your DE in mainframe performance tuning and capacity planning, including ways to reduce I/Os, CPU Time, MSUs, and MIPs, using Strobe, iStrobe, and Platinum Detector</li> <li>Your DE in mainframe application development including: file format and comparison using File-AID; version management using Endeavor; debugging and unit testing using Intertest and Abend-AID; and job scheduling using Control-M</li> </ul> <h3>How Your Work Impacts the Organization</h3> Develops applications and provides support on a mainframe environment, using COBOL, DB2, CICS, JCL, MQ-Series, SQL, and VSAM files.
