This person will lead a team of risk professionals who are responsible for providing credible challenge to US &amp; International consumer and small business customer management and collections risk strategies and processes within AMEX. The candidate should have experience in credit risk management, data &amp; analytics, risk appetite limit setting, portfolio monitoring and relevant regulatory regulations and guidance. The incumbent will report to the VP, Credit Risk Oversight Customer Management.Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>Implement remediation for credit and enterprise gaps as identified in project Guardian </li><li>Own, create, maintain, and publish Credit risk policy and Standards for customer management and collections</li><li>Prepare decks for large strategy approvals requiring senior management and committee approvals </li><li>Lead independent reviews of the consumer &amp; small business risk processes and strategies</li><li>Create and maintain risk appetite statement, risk taxonomy, risk inventory and RAF metrics</li><li>Conduct Risk Assessment, and publish CRO commentary on a monthly basis</li><li>Maintain the criteria for Exceptions and Smart Monitoring KRIs and action appropriately. Produce, analyze and publish functional and exception monitoring MIS</li><li>Monitor concentrations in the consumer &amp; small business portfolios and recommend actions to mitigate risk</li><li>Identify key strategic and/or regulatory issues for resolution with senior management</li><li>Escalate emerging risks by tracking macroeconomic and markets trends</li></ul>Experience and Background:<ul><li>Leadership experience in risk management or a similar role;</li><li>Credit risk management experience with a minimum of 5 year experience in a leading financial services organization;</li><li>Strong business acumen with a risk-reward control perspective;</li><li>Experience in data-driven analytics, including analyzing structured and unstructured data;</li><li>Familiarity with applicable regulatory requirements;</li><li>Proven ability to successfully manage multiple priorities under pressure;</li><li>Advanced degree in quantitative or a related field</li></ul>Leadership Skills:<ul><li>Proven leader who can build, encourage, and mentor a team with a passion for risk management;</li><li>Strong collaboration and influential leadership skills with the ability to build positive relationships across teams and levels of seniority;</li><li>Self-confident with a strong sense of integrity and the ability and willingness to challenge and be challenged;</li><li>Proactive in identifying issues, delivering and escalating key findings, and advising on recommended solutions to correct issues or mitigate risks;</li><li>Ability to communicate oversight findings to credit risk peers, business partners, and senior executives;</li><li>Strong verbal and written communication skills.</li></ul>Salary Range: $130,000.00 to $205,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefitsThe above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition.
