FAS Development staff work with Harvard College donors, alumni, parents, and friends who provide critical support for the FAS and often for other parts of the University.This opportunity focuses on non-alumni parents and is part of the robust Faculty of Arts and Sciences Development team. Job-Specific Responsibilities: The Director will work in partnership with the Senior Executive Director, fundraising managers, and all gift officers to build a strategic fundraising plan and prospect gift strategy for major- and principal-gift level non-alumni parent prospects in support of the FAS mission and priorities. This person will carry a portfolio of highly rated prospects and collaborate with colleagues to execute a fundraising strategy that includes qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship within their portfolios.The Director will develop and implement an annual and multi-year fundraising plan in collaboration with the FAS Development team to build and expand philanthropic support among non-alumni parents. Critical to success is a strong partnership with the Harvard College Fund’s Parent Engagement Program (PEP), a volunteer-driven annual giving and volunteer engagement effort and developing opportunities for synergy.This position requires a command of advanced fundraising principles, experience managing people and projects, a bias for making the ask, a high level of organization, professionalism, and a broad familiarity with the objectives of capital, endowment, and annual current-use fundraising. The Director must demonstrate leadership characteristics while balancing the demands of project management and prospect work to achieve strong results.&nbsp;Responsibilities:<ul><li>Participate as a leader on the team and across the organization to drive vision setting and fundraising plan development. A key responsibility is the development and execution of comprehensive prospect strategies designed to secure six-, seven-, and eight-figure gifts from the assigned pool. Strategy is often set in conjunction with other officers in the FAS and University Development Offices. Annual portfolio metrics will be reviewed with the Senior Executive Director of Development, Major and Planned Gifts, and progress towards goals will be evaluated monthly.</li><li>As a member of the Major and Planned Gifts leadership team, the Director will coordinate with other senior members of the FAS development team to help further fundraising efficiency and efficacy with the non-alumni parent population. In coordination with the FAS senior staff, the Director will develop and implement moves-management processes to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major and principal donors. The Director must create, implement, and manage a transparent, mission-aligned operations program that gives the system's leadership and community visibility into active projects progress and future capital planning.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:<ul><li>Develops and executes a strategic and tactical roadmap and capital improvement plan for Project Development and Planning, aligning departmental objectives with the system¿s overall goals, maximizing value, minimizing impact on operations and maintaining asset value</li><li>Serves as the ultimate SME regarding Project Development and Planning; keeping abreast of all current trends, requirements, regulations, and other impacts to operations</li><li>Directly leads and manages the Project Development and Planning team in all aspects, including effectively and efficiently assigning Property Services Projects; Coaches an environment of continuous improvement, ownership, and transparency</li><li>Develops, monitors and controls budgets and schedules for construction projects, including but not limited to developing order of magnitude and square foot cost estimates, generating multi-year projects of funding requirements, modeling the implications of various scenarios, appropriately allocating resources, and approving all applications for payments relating to construction projects</li><li>In coordination with Legal and Procurement, ensures the department operations are fully compliant with LSC's guidelines and policies and any state statutes, federal regulations, and all other applicable regulatory bodies; This includes interpreting the RFP procedure for consultants and participating in the vendor selection process</li><li>Works directly with the highest level of outside firms awarded contracts, ensuring the highest quality of work is completed on projects and that deadlines are met</li><li>Collaborates with and advises system leadership, including presidents and Chancellor's Cabinet, on all renovations, modifications and capital projects</li><li>Creates and manages the system's annual R&amp;R and R&amp;M project lists, prepares documentation for Board of Trustees approval, and ensures projects are completed as approved</li><li>Develops, implements and manages design and construction standards, quality control plans, work processes and procedures, and training and mentoring programs</li><li>Creates a variety of high-level reports, presentations, and other documentation for system leadership and the Board; advises Chief Property Officer on the progress of all construction projects</li><li>Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned to accomplish the objectives of LSC or as assigned by the Chief Property Officer</li></ul>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:<ul><li>Demonstrated ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously under tight schedules</li><li>Ability to communicate effectively across all levels, both internally and with external parties</li><li>Strong leadership, interpersonal, and supervisory skills</li><li>Proficiency with project management software, Microsoft Office, Procore and other relevant software for planning and tracking project progress</li></ul>PHYSICAL ABILITIES:The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; or recurring lifting of moderately heavy items, such as boxes.
